The Old Folks Home

I hate drywalling after putting up over 100 sheets in our house. The idiot...errrr gentleman who built the house put up foam insulation and because it was white must have figured it would double as wallboard....not. We still have some to do to get the upstairs finished but neither of us are anxious to do it anytime soon especially since the attic is storage at this point.

The weather here sucks. Not that hot. In fact, below average temps for this time of the year. Highs in the 70s and lows in the low 50s upper 40s. But they are calling for rain and storms everyday for the next week! Just heard somebody on one of our local HAM radio bands who is a weather spotter say that the next three nights there is supposed to be severe weather here.

Told DH watch! When it stops raining, the temps will go to 90 and we'll be praying for rain to happen.

Some of our surveillance system went down. The POE was not delivering power. Dh had some gizmo he hooked in, which solved the immediate problem, but I made him call the company. It's under warranty. He did. He was to send it in, and they would take care of it. Um, WHAT? I'm suppose to go for how long without a system? I could see that, if I had bought a cheap system through a box store. Why did I pay so much, and go through a supposed reputable company, if that's how they do their customers? That's unsatisfactory. We got the new system, and sent the other one back.

Dh had forgotten how involved it was to set up the surveillance system. He spent the entire day fussing, and fuming about it. Where he set it up, is kind of tight for him to get into, but he managed. He mumbled something about not being as agile, and able to twist, and turn like that anymore. To be honest, that wasn't the difficult part. He needs bifocals, but refuses to get them. There are dozens of parameters that have to be set up, for each camera. The text is a bit small, so he'd run see what was needed, then run back to his computer to type whatever in, and hope it didn't time out. This went on for a bit, when I told him to go get the tv from our bedroom, set it next to his computer desk, and that way he would be able to see everything easily. Finally, he did. It took him over an hour to get all the information in, and all the settings done well enough to hold until he's off from work. When he's off work, he will spend 2 days tweaking, and fine-tuning it. That part drives me crazy.

Dry wall is not my favorite thing either but it has to be done!

The new whole house fan is much better and is sealed very tightly. It will cut down on drafts and since it is very quiet compared to the other one, we will be able to use it more

My daughter was on Medicaid, and went to their dentist a little over a year ago. They billed Medicaid for doing the prep work on 2 teeth, 2 cores, and 2 crowns. They didn't do any of it. She paid a private dentist for the work, and turned in the complaint, with proof, to Medicaid. She was not the only one. About 9 months ago, they went in, and arrested the dentists for Medicaid fraud. They replaced the dentists there, and the staff. She recently had 3 teeth filled there. Within a couple days, she discovered that while brushing her teeth, it made a crack in the filling, and when she went to rinse, there was no more filling. It began happening to another tooth too. What you can see in the other tooth, is that it was not filled. They used a little material, and just barely covered over the hole. Kind of like spackling over a hole in a wall. She notified Medicaid, and they're opening another investigation. She's going to her own dentist again, to get the proof they need. Again, they've had a significant number of complaints about the new dentists, and their fraudulent practices.

Like I told my daughter, it's not a whole lot better here, when you have dental insurance. There are things my insurance pays for, but the dentist will say things like, it pays for this type core, or that type crown material, or this type filling material. None of the dentists on the plan use any of the materials that the insurances will pay for. They all use a different type of materials that are not covered, and there is always a large amount to be paid by the patient.

Wow!

I hope it all gets figured out. Dental care is very important for health and should be covered more by health insurance.
