The Old Folks Home

Scalpels are great for chicken processing. One per bird as they lose their edge after neck slicing, leg removing, and orafice dissecting. Bought in bulk, they're inexpensive.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a booger. I was very fortunate that it didn't flare up for me until 30 years into my court reporting career. I ended up with the braces at night, prescription Naproxen and diuretics, and cutting my schedule down to, well, retirement. Didn't have the surgery but now don't have good hand strength. However, no wrist pain nor finger numbness! (And no more braces at night)

Had hecka winds here yesterday. I was pointing my hose straight at a plant and watering one 5 feet to my left. Came inside when it was impossible to do anything as the wind was strong and relentless... Kind of like being in front of a turbo blowdryer. Four hours later the weather folks declared a wind advisory. Well, DUH, Sherlock. Hopefully today will be a little more yardwork friendly. Skies are full of pollen and dust, though. Sneeze City.

He does lots of things with the grands, but that baby has him wrapped around her little finger. Especially while the older ones are in school, and she's the only one here. After bit, I'm going out to the firewood pile, and going to get the wood to bar-b-q some steaks tonight. Remember I mentioned stumbling into a great deal on them? Well, tonight, I want to grill some of them for supper. I'll also toss in some potatoes, for baked potatoes. I'll fix green beans, and corn or carrots to go with it. I'll top it off with the watermelon that's getting cold in the fridge. Maybe we'll set up the tent on the back porch for the kids to sleep in tonight. That way I can put the fan on them, so they don't get too hot.

I bought a pack of scalpels from Amazon.

I now have quit a kit of sharp things and shears for processing. I also have a good knife sharpener and a ceramic stick for fine edges. I also have a pipe cutter for decapitating that works great!

It really makes a difference! My youngest DD says that our knives are as sharp as scalpels LOL!

I used to have really strong hands until I had carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists. My hands do a ton of work.

I waited years to have my left done, a lefty here .. Doc that did them taught how to do it right my right was marginal and I actually had it go away repair itself from the time I surrendered.

Someone sent this to me on FB, so I think it will be something fun for the kids (and big kids too) to do. The tent, with the flashlights should be perfect for it.

Ok, did the bar-b-q. It turned out fine. I haven't cut the watermelon yet. Everyone's still too full from supper. I will cut it after bit. Dh is ticked off at me, and I'm just as ticked off right back. The grandbaby was watching youtube videos on her mom's phone. Counting, colors, ABC's etc. Suddenly the big tv in the living room changed screens, and her video was on my big tv screen. I was NOT happy. I changed the setting through my cable box, so none of the phones, tablets, etc. can do that on my tv. Dh is upset with me. He can kiss my foot. Like I told him, if he wants her to watch stuff on a tv, he can do it on his tv, through his cable box in the bedroom. Grrrrr.
