The Old Folks Home

@CapricornFarm, don't make me get after you girl! Get that skin checked!

Yes, @Cynthia12 They beat that one on DH's nose but he's had plenty more since then including a very large one on the crown of his head that wound up taking out a 2X4 swath of scalp and flest down to his skull. They don't know why he is getting so many skin cancers but it's not unusual for him to go for a 3 month check up and have 10-20 chemical freezes done and 2 or 3 biopsies. He's very fair skinned but then so am I. My mom had basal cell carcinoma on her temple. Dad was a redhead freckled German (so I come by it honestly) but so far knock on wood, I have beat the rap and so did he. He never had skin cancer in spite of running around outside getting sunburned with no shirt on well into his 70s.

DH wears long sleeved hoodie shirts all year long now and doesn't venture out between the hours of 11AM and 4PM. The dermatologist he sees says he wished other patients took their skin cancers as seriously as he does. He just says he's not serious, he just hates getting carved on all the time.

Cap I once had bags of Easter candy and my dad's blood pressure and BPH pills stolen out of the back of my pickup truck while parked in a Krogers parking lot in broad daylight. Had a good laugh about the pills when I talked to the cops and filed a report. I said the most buzz they were going to get was getting dizzy when they stood up and not having to get up 8 times during the night to pee. They said kids were coming up from the nearby housing project and stealing stuff from cars while people were shopping. To make matters worse, my dad was sitting in the passenger side of the truck when it happened. Krogers had surveillance cameras but a recent storm had tipped them in the wrong direction.

Wasn't very reassuring as far as safety was concerned.

can think back to knocking the guts out of converters after they gave up the ghost or for better mileage those years where fun
We are smog tested every two years here and cannot get registration without it. The amount that a converter costs would not be made up for with a couple of miles per gallon better gas mileage.

It is a very sad situation....

Morning everyone! Rise and shine!

Neither of our classic cars have catalytic converters. Cali would never allow them on the road unless they have special registration for 'antique' vehicles. Somehow I doubt they do.

It's raining here this morning and DH just started a small fire in the fireplace. This is really weird weather for this time of the year in Missouri. Usually the AC is roaring by the first of June but the highest temp for this week is predicted to be 83 with the high only to 70 today and the low 46 tonight. Usually it's in the low 90s or high 80s. Not complaining at all. Just bewildered.

So are we looking at a La Nina event? Gonna have to look at the farmers almanac. In the meantime, indoor activities here today and I do have plenty of them to do.

It was below 60° here last night! And humidity is down. Loving that! I will be shopping most of the day today.

Any car earlier than 1977 is fine here. Smog requirements are base on what was required the year it was sold as new.

We have highs in the low 100s and have overcast skies today.
