The Old Folks Home

My Dad chopped off the end of 2 fingers when he was working at a camera factory. They put merthiolate on it! :barnie
I cut the tip off or the ring finger on my left hand using a deli slicer. I have a nice scar there too

Just whacked my temple on the corner of the shutter than sticks out the front of the chicken coop. Sigh. I need to put fluorescent tape on them. They are very heavy shutters, I built them myself.
None of the chickens seem to be suffering the heat from what I have seen so far. And they are still laying well.
Be careful!

We cannot take that many blows to the head

Just looked that up..
I had a injury to my foot recently . Tripped over a piece of wood next to my wood pile from splitting wood, nice sharp 'splinter' about foot long drove 3/4 of a inch or so in between my big and second toe, thought I was going emergency room.. Hobbled inside and asked dw if she could pull out a splinter for me she laughed from the other room cause we just had a argument. And about puked when she saw it lol. Was pretty sore for a few days but I put red kote on it, made by the same people that make blue kote but red. Soaked it in Epsom salts also. Good now and no $$ doctors visits. Says not for human use but dang if it will heal a horse? I don't think it contains any mercury though lol.

Hot er than heck here also, been drought now tons of rain.
Heading out to my garden to pick nightwalkers. Been doing a lot of fishing with the kids. Dang they charge $$ now for crawlers. Was $3.99 for 2 doz, then it was 20. Last few times we went I was thinking we run out quick even breaking them in half or pieces. Now it's a doz.. WOW! I can remember people selling them a dollar a doz, now nobody has them for sale. Guess I'll have to do the work myself, nice weed free garden is the easiest .
Yrs ago I could pick a couple hundred a night out of a lawn. Havto see how long my back holds out now, don't have any knee pads Lol!

Heading to dear daughter’s tomorrow, 4 hours away. I’m returning her dog who has been having a Vermont vacation, but more importantly, the baby is sick and her husband is away. She was so relieved when I said I would come! Poor thing.

Darling granddaughter has a fever and is grouchy, okay; but Coxsackievirus was going around day care. Scary nasty diseases. DH volunteered us to keep her dog, whom he loves, and take little Frances here so she doesn’t have to go to day care any more! Hah!

Part of me yearns to have the little sweetie here, but I remember how exhausted we both were when all of them visited! Chasing a toddler, giving her constant attention, watching out for hazards, keeping track of nap times, making special food and cleaning up afterward - yikes! How did I ever do it?!

Micro! Better late than never! Hope it was great. :)

angel, When Dd went back to college, I took care of the youngest grand while she was in school, several hours, two days a week. It was actually pretty good most of the time, but I prepared for it. I set up a very nice play area. I got a table/chair set, so she, could eat her breakfast/lunch while watching her cartoons, or do arts & crafts on. I got a rack that holds colored plastic bins, that matches the table/chair set, for her to keep toys in, and it made short work of picking up toys. I got a kitchen set for her too. Outside, I had things as well. I got an activity set at a yard sale, with stuff for her to climb in/on. I also got bubbles, sidewalk chalk, squirt guns, etc., for outside.

While watching a toddler is tiring, the prep work made our days go smoothly most of the time, and it kept it from being exhausting. Keep a check on yard sales, and such. There are usually quite a few kid things that can be gotten cheaply that way, so you don't have to spend a ton of money.

Later on, Dd and her kids moved in with us. I'm so thankful I took the time, and effort to set up designated play areas, and fill them with things for the kids to do, and an easy way to pick up, and store them at the end of the day.

Hot here!! I don't like hot! Will be 98 tommorow..up to 100 on Monday. Hey, too bad you can't run on over here to my front yard. It's full of night crawlers to the point of bumpy lawn. Neighbors complained last couple of years. Now it's our turn. They are huge. Back yard too. Chickens never ate them that I saw. ??
