ron I probably would have been dismissed as a juror just for saying I believe in the death penalty for certain crimes. That guy should be "toast," Plenty get off the hook in Chicago with just a slap. Of course they stand a very good chance of being gunned down by the victims family.

You never know what will happen here.

The evidence seems very strong and it seems like the Defense is trying to get something less than life in prison as the sentence

Yes, penny and they get much better health care in "the joint." Low income people do not.

It’s sad but I’ve read that a lot of people, especially poor and/or homeless people, will purposely commit crimes just to go to jail just so that they have food and health care and a roof over their head. That is sad and really shows the state the country is in when people feel they have to go to jail just to get taken care of. :/

But that said obviously murderers and the horrible people that commit absolutely horrible evil stuff I don’t feel bad for and don’t think we should be paying for them but most of the people that do it to be taken care of just commit like petty crimes.

I always remember a line by Carol O'Connor in 'In the Heat of the Night' when he was asked if he thought the death penalty was cruel and inhuman punishment. Without thinking, the 'Chief' said 'absolutely. I think the kindest way of dealing with it is to tell the convicted person that there has been a terrible mistake. Their sentence has been overturned and their record expunged and when a big smile of joy blossoms on their faces, somebody shoots them in the back of their heads'.

As for 3 hots and a cot. I remember talking to a prison guard one day while waiting for my dad to get out of surgery. He (the guard) was there with a prisoner who was getting expensive sinus surgery done on his sinuses for the damage from cocaine he was snorting. Guess who's paying for it? The guard asked and he was not happy. He then said. Unlike your dad who is getting his surgery paid for out of your pockets after medicare pays their part. So we as taxpayers were paying for the criminal's surgery as well as our own family members.

The only justice is when word gets out amongst the prisoners what the murderer has done and who he has done it to.....justice will be done. There is an honor system there.

There is a special place in Hell for a baby abuser/wife/woman abuser especially if murder is involved and trust me. The road there isn't pleasant.....rightfully so.

Me too! The Trial started on Friday according to the paper. The opening arguments quoted from the DA are awful! It was a very brutal murder

There should be a way to get that done before heading into court. There was one person on this one in a similar situation, a wife whose husband had some type of dementia did stuff like get out and wreck the car. She was excused but should not have had to even show up.

See I did not have to show up here when I received the notice it had directions
of how to get excused not being able to drive now and mostly blind I am excused
gave me directions to get a letter from my Doctor
