The Old Folks Home

That sounds suspiciously like Herkimers effect to me, Cap. I'd get that and mentally knew it was time to hit the lemon water and Epsom salt hot tub soaks.

The good news is that Herksing as they refer to in on the Lyme Associations forum, is a sign that the antibiotics are working and you are getting bacteria die off that is building up in your bloodstream and making you feel crappy.

No big plans for the weekend here. We have been working on small projects here as we feel like it. I just came in from raking and cleaning out the small coop. Only two roosters in it now. I'm seriously considering tossing them back in the main flock and shutting down that coop till spring breeding season rolls around again. The roosters aren't acting as aggressive towards the hens any more, surprising since I only have about 6 or 8 that aren't brooding right now.

I have two broody bantams left and 'Stupid' who will act broody until I give her a couple of eggs to sit on then she gives up after three days is up to her old tricks. Last night I went into the coop to find her sitting on a nest. Picked her up and realized she was sitting on the bantam who was diligently sitting on her own eggs.

At times I doubt whatever sanity God has graced them with.....
I bet you are right, I mostly just laid on the sofa all day. Now i need to get busy! That soak sounds good!

Anyone out there with arthritis pain ever tried Voltaren ointment jell on your joints with good results? I picked up my first tube of it yesterday. 41 dollars WITH medicare....ouch! Should be able to rub some of it on that price to make it hurt less, lol!

Any plans for the weekend?

A friend brought me some Voltaren from Mexico (super cheap, non-RX) and I have to say that although she found it wonderful, I never noticed a bit of difference. I thought perhaps the bum knee I was using it for just didn't respond to that sort of treatment.

Sorry . . .

Hmm, weekend plans. DH is working on finishing the barn/garage. I have to mix up the deer repellent and spray it on the garden. We have deer, and in my experience they arrive the night before you are going to harvest the broccoli and eat off all the heads. I have to work on writing a report - I still have some commitments to work, and report-writing on a sunny day is the hardest thing EVER.

DH has to drive to Newport, NH to pick up some beadboard at that lumberyard. So we are going to go out to lunch. I'm going to dehydrate some more zucchini. Gotta add more litter to the run. Need to drill some more holes in the containers the potatoes are in - they are far too wet.

Wow, we live such exciting lives!

I got Voltaren tablets, they do seem to help.

It's my understanding that Voltaren is an NSAID, like Advil or Aleve. But the point of the gel was (for me) you didn't have to take it internally, affecting your whole system for pain in one knee. But anyhow . . .

I didn't know it came as a pill.

I have a lot of parts that hurt. Might as well help all of them. I don't take it every day, but it has helped the aches from Lyme disease.

I have to be really careful around lidocaine as I have an arrythmia. They don't even use regular anesthetics on me when I have dental work done.

I have tried the lidocaine rubs though, I have to admit. Didn't do much for my joint pain but I LOVE the stuff for poison ivy rashes.

I misspelled Herxheimer. Oops, my bad. Herxing is one of the main syptoms of antibiotics working on the Lyme infection. Burrescano used to recommend staying on the antibiotics for something like three months AFTER the Herxing stops just to make certain that all the bacteria that have gone cystic have emerged and have died off from the antibiotic treatment. The die off makes you feel as bad if not worse than the disease does by it'self.

@CapricornFarm, now you know why I HATE ticks!
