The Old Folks Home

I sold my plasma in college... good money.

That is where I learned my blood type.

I wonder if I could do that... always like making extra money :lau

If you go donate blood, they will tell you and maybe even give you a T shirt!

That sounds awesome!! I may have to do that! You get cookies too, right? Lol

Do they test your blood before you donate? I think I read that somewhere? That they have to see if you qualify?

O- here also and, yes, the mailings telling you how everyone is counting on you to donate are endless.
I donate; I know there are others with my type that can not receive any other type if they need it. We are only type that can only receive blood that is our specific type.
Regardless of type, if you are able physically, you should donate.
I do wish the wait at our local blood drives wasn't so long...even with an appointment...but am glad so many here are willing to donate. :clap

Wow I never heard of that type. That must be hard only being able to have one type of blood! Hopefully they would have it on hand!

But yes that is good so many people are willing to donate!! That’s awesome.

I am able to donate but no tramadol for like a week before

That sounds like it’d be painful

I'm still curious about donating "packed red blood cells" and other options. But all I want to know is, does it take forever? Does it hurt? Will they have to talk about it in detail?

There is a lot of great info on the Red Cross website.

Donating plasma was pretty fast...short lines ....

But.... I have very low bloodpressure... so the donation took long...20 minutes maybe??? Spouse has always had high blood pressure... so way faster, maybe only 10 minutes.

But they had a good selection of magazines.

I don't really like needles... I just looked the other direction.

Oh... and it didn't really hurt...

Thanks, this is good to know. I was reading it took like an hour and a half ha

Whoops, you beat me to it haha

I used to donate, but sometimes my blood pressure drops and I feel faint. The small pain never bothered me.

I’m pretty worried about this part. Sometimes I get lightheaded or get migraines or just feel weird or weak or whatever randomly as is so I’m a bit worried if I donate blood I’ll feel horrible after haha

The O peer pressure might change soon. There is a way to turn A into universal donor too
