The Old Folks Home

But aren't the teen aged years supposed to be the happy slob phase of childhood?

Eh.... I have worked hard to avoid that.

I want kids that cook, clean, and pick up after themselves.

Mine do the bare minimum like a well oiled machine... but to get the sinks wiped out and the counters perfectly clean? That often takes 2 reminders.

They do get lots of play time too.... here the harder you work, the more time and goodies you get for play.

My cousin called. She needed more gas, but couldn't lift the full one. I took her 3 full gas cans, and poured some from each into the empty one, so it wouldn't be so heavy. I also took a funnel. That makes it a lot easier to lean them, and not lose the gas.

The power company called her this afternoon. Something about the pedestal having to be inspected first. The inspection is slated for tomorrow, but they're not sure what time. They're going to try to get everything done tomorrow after the inspection, but if the inspection is too late in the afternoon, it could be Saturday before they get everything done.

I told her, if/when she needs more gas, to load the empty cans in her trunk, and fill them. She can take the office manager up on her offer to have one of the maintenance guys unload them, and carry them on the porch for her. She needed some D batteries for her lanterns, so I took her an 8 pack that I had here. That saved her a trip to the store. She was going to go to one of the fast food places, or fix sandwiches for supper. While not ideal, it's not too bad.

I woke up to quite a commotion this morning. All the grands were up, and grandson was standing by the bathroom door, needing to go, but afraid to. Every time he'd go into the bathroom, a racket would start. I looked, and told him to go use the restroom, it was ok. I knew the noise involved power tools, and the attic. I began searching for Dh.

There is an access in the garage, and in our bedroom closet. The ladder, and a drop cord were in our closet. Ok, that part of the mystery was solved. I yelled a hello up into the hole, and I heard him reply with something about taping holes in the duct work that squirrel damage. I was wondering why he needed power tools to tape up the duct work.

When he climbed down, he explained that one of the rafters was broken. ?????? We don't know when it happened, but he reinforced it, until he can get some angle iron, and do a better fix on it. Of course, it had to be done at 7:20 am.
