Pretty sure you have to run it each month even if you don't lose power to use up the gas and test it.
Mine had to be far from the house and we would have had to build a slab and a roof for it plus drill and blast into the granite in the ground to run pipe to the house. Not worth it.

Is that all generators that you have to test like that or just this one?

And oh wow that sounds like a lot of work and a lot of expensive!! Definitely not worth it especially if you don’t lose power much

I think I read once that there are 15 types of poison Ivy here and a few of them don't even look like poison ivy.

Long arm purchased with the money that had been saved up to buy a Generac generator. When a deal comes along, you just can't pass it up!

I'm trying to remember what brand our generator is but can'f for the life of me. I just remember how much fun it was to make the mad dash out to start it in the morning when it was sleeting and snowing dressed in pajamas, robe and muck boots. Another motivation towards getting plugged into the grid. Now we just keep the generator for emergency use.

With the exception of rural water service and the generator....almost forgot, 3 solar panels also....we lived 'off grid' for 4 years. It was a challenge, not always easy but we learned that we could do it if we had to.

My neighbor... shivering all get out. ..

Standing out in the cold, all bundled up, nursing his generator. He had a hair dryer plugged into the generator and aimed AT the generator.... it was so cold, that was the only way to keep it running.

I didn't have power either... but I had a wood stove, so no biggie.

That is a big reason to have a wood stove and I do not care what anyone says wood heat is the warmest
