The Old Folks Home

Dutch cheese presses had/have an arm. The cheese weights would slide on the arm. Now, they don't make the arm as sturdy as the older ones, which was a length of 2 x 4, but this gives you an idea on how they were used. Different types of cheeses require different weight. With most, you started with 1 weight, and after most of the moisture was pressed out, you would add more weight. Now, instead of using weights, most suggest using gallon jugs filled with water as weights, then attaching them with a loop of rope, or cord, thus the notches.

That looks like a nice cheese press!

For those of you who have paints when you have some time ( maybe when you are stuck in the house during the winter) there are a ton of free tutorials on YouTube. Just search water color tutorial. I'm doing a lot of them until I feel ready to do one of my own pictures. Would love to see others paintings :love:love:love
