Depends on what is on the acreage and the topography. 5 acres is more than plenty for a house, some chickens and goats or sheep plus their housing. Without animals, it is a lot of mowing. Actually, WITH animals, it is a lot of mowing. We have about 1 acre of homesite including the barns and 1 acre fenced for the 2 alpacas and the chickens. It takes about an hour with the riding mower to mow around the house. That leaves about 4.5 acres of what was once a hay field that I have been mowing now that I have a tractor to knock down the weeds. Hoping to get it back to something productive. Sometimes I have to mow the fenced area because the alpacas are picky and don't actually eat much. The plant life, except when we have drought, grows faster than they eat it so they are picky about what they dain to eat. The rest of the property is a wetland, a man made pond (now in woods) and woods. Other than cutting wood for winter heat, the woods are left to the wild animals. These are very good tips!
I do not think I would get over 5 acres. That seems like a size that can be more easily taken care of
But with our 13 acres, the neighbors are further away. We had 10 acres in TN.These are very good tips!
