The Old Folks Home

I know! I hate to turn up the thermostat and warm up the whole house when it’s getting toward bedtime anyway. We just move what we’re doing closer to the stove. It has a glass door so it’s beautiful to sit there. I send pic to my daughter. It makes her jealous. (That makes me sound mean! I’m not mean!). The dog just loves it, poor little Chihuahua. He gets so cold. View attachment 1926902
That is a pretty picture. That little one is loving it!

Our temp are all over the place. Heater is on now. Will turn off later. Here is now, and this week.

Nice! We have moose here in the Adirondacks though I have never seen any.
The only moose I've seen on the east coast was up near Rangely Lake in Maine. I saw them a few times when I lived in Utah. They are bigger than the elk.

We quit smoking I have from like 15 to 54 but we used chantix made it worth doing and no gnawing screaming from either one of us he was out of the service before he started
Congratulations on quitting! SCG helped me quit about five years ago. I was going to try the Chantix and she talked me into trying the patches along with lozenges at the same time. It worked like a charm. I am so grateful I don't smoke any more.

This weekend has been very hectic. We loaded up my old treadmill (finally wore it out) and took it to electronics turn in day for our township. Then I went out an got me a new one. Need to keep my training up. I want to do better on the 25K trail hike next year and I will still have my annual hiking trip out west. Love the new machine. It is so quiet compared to my last one. Did housework and shopping and been working on my painting skills. I painted the two pictures below this morning. I really enjoy painting. Have to find something to do with all the time I used to spend on cleaning out the coop! ;):p

Wow! :love. And yes, we have moose here, haven't seen one..those Elk are big..had one of those on our kitchen table years ago processing it. Yes, you read that right. With a lot of help, but didn't happen again!!

@dsqard, great pictures. I especially like the birch trees also. Very striking. I love stuff that leaps out and grabs your eyes.

I spent the morning out cleaning out the nesting boxes and doing some updating. I spent days building wooden nesting boxes for them but the little ingrates would rather lay their eggs in cat litter buckets. I have about 9 or 10 set up for them and there always seems to be a pileup out on the roost bar for one to empty out during the day. I have to say it does make cleaning and dealing with the hens a lot easier. Just pop a bucket out of the line, dump it out, make sure it's clean and add fresh bedding. When the hens are broody and about to hatch I just pop the nest out, bucket and all and set it in the pen for them to transition. Plus with 5 cats we are never at a loss for buckets.

No sun here today so it's coolish and acts like it's trying to make up its mind whether or not it wants to rain. Wish it would decide.

A lot of folks here heat with electricity. I don't understand why in all honesty. We have a slightly shorter winter here than we did in IL with less snow but we still have our fair share of both snow and cold. Enough that I sure wouldn't want to give our money to the power company any more than I would want to give it to MFA Agri to haul LP out here.
