The Old Folks Home

deb, when was the last time you went to your home? You might want to go spend a few hours taking stock of what needs to be done, before you get moved in. Are the frequent power outages something the power company needs to address? Lines, transformers, equipment? I think I'd get a generator that could at least power the refrigerator, just in case.

all of us on the same power line loose power simultaneously. Old lines I am sure and we are at the end of this particular branch.

When I get the house rewired I will be adding either a power storage cell or a connection for a generator. But really The power going off isnt a problem I heat with wood in the winter and in the summer my walls are more than a foot thick.

Yep though I havent been back I know already what is possible. I have till after the first of the year to head up there and formulate a game plan.

I've been eating chayote for years. I use it as a side dish. I simply rinse, cut it in wedges, then put it in boiling water, with a little butter, and a dash of salt, and pepper. Cook until tender when poked with a fork. Just before serving, in the very center, where the seed would be, it looks a bit like a membrane, just cut, or scoop that out, then serve. It's got a mild, wonderful flavor.
