I had to look Chayote up as I had never heard of it before or seen it at the local groceries that sell ethnic foods. I love to try new foods though so if I could find it I'd probably try it. Around here, besides the Amish, there is a large Hispanic population and with ATSU Sills, the School of Osteopathy and a couple more colleges I can't think of right now in Kirksville there is a pretty interesting representation of different cultures to be found when classes are in session so there is a lot of ethnic foods to be found in the local HyVee and Walmart.
Morning everyone. Bright and sunny here today with a fall like high of 63. I'm still doing fall clean up outside. I have the big coop cleaned but need to cover the screened in windows with plastic for winter. I've never had a ventilation problem in that coop as the shed is so old and drafty that it provides its own air circulation. I still have the old 'little coop' to clean out. I want to get it clean, spray it down with strong bleach water and let it set over the winter months to air out and let the cold kill off some of the germs left behind. I hope to use it as a rooster coop come spring but Idunno. The birds that lived there were my 'Marek's' flock with the occasional extra rooster thrown in for good measure. I wonder if I can ever get it reasonably sanitized or if it's a lost cause.
It used to be a 'duplex' but I tore out the lower 'condo' so the upper coop is all that remains and stands on 'stilts' so the door is at shoulder height. it's closed up now but the chooks love to scratch around and hang out under it. They love digging for treasure there.
I need to make a decision soon as November is just around the corner.
Also plan to put more apples in the freezer and distribute the remainder to neighbors and friends.

I filled my cart up.... They had beef feet as well as Beef Neck bones.... And Pork Butt Roasts Two to the bag for .77 Cents a pound... I couldnt even lift it out of the cooler. Bwahahah.... Apples for 2.99 a bag... And the two kinds I want to use for the Apple butter... Granny smith for tart and natural pectin and Gala for sweet. My recipe calls for them to be unpeeled... Just chopped up last time I made it the peels kind of disappeared.

nahhh, I’ll be good and try to limit myself!! I’ll just get some of the cocker spaniels and any other breed requests.
