The Old Folks Home

All bets say you will probably be coughing in 48 hours...I hope not but if you were me, that is what would happen.

Last year before Christmas, I ran into the Salvation Army thrift store to pick up some beat up stuffed toys for our dogs to play with for Christmas gifts. The toy section is in the back of the store and I could hear a woman coughing to my far left. I though I was out of the line of fire so I did some browsing on my way, stopped to look at a pair of jeans and heard somebody hacking up a lung nearby. I looked up and yep, there was Typhoid Mary standing about 10 feet away from me emitting this gawdawful loose cough that if she had been old I would have called a death rattle. I thought, man I'm doomed. Sure enough. Day before Christmas I got sick and was sick through new years.

I don't know why folks don't stay home when they are sick or at least wear a mask. When I was at the local clinic for my Tetanus booster the other day they had a sign up that said "Please Protect Our Staff So They May Serve You. Wear a mask if you are experiences cold or flu symptoms"

Y'wanna bet that nobody does?:rant:sick

Deep freeze here this morning. Only 19 degrees when I got up. Very unusual for this time of the year here and more like January which makes me worry about what January weather is going to be like. Chooks won't be let out until the temps get above freezing which probably won't be until noon.

I'm not mentally ready for it to be this cold this soon.

My girls are definitely freaked out. I opened the door and they stepped out onto the deck, which I shoveled. We had less than an inch, but it was raining before the snow
so there’s a frozen crust on the deck. I threw out a little scratch, but they were unconvinced! They came out, looked around, and went back inside! I propped the door only slightly open so they don’t get a lot of wind.

Lots of standing on one foot!

They give out free masks at the Dr's office here. And have big jugs of sanitizer. As you know, hand washing is vital.
I am never ready for it to be below freezing!

Morning all went for blood draw check vitals thyroid and cbc like the gal there hits a vein in the hand boom done no problems had water on the way in a few sips went got a few doughnuts after words lots of shortening in them

@trumpeting_angel my husband gave me a good laugh this morning. He saw your picture and said, 'whow, she lets her chickens in her kitchen!' I had to break the news to him that no, that wasn't your kitchen, it was your coop and not everyone had a metal inside and out shed and concrete floor like mine is. I think he was worried that I would want 'house chickens' next.;)

Day started out okay then got interesting. Our 17+ year old half Siamese cat who has a history of diabetes has been loosing weight. Today we noted that he was walking funny. Took a blood sugar test and sure enough, he had a blood sugar of almost 400. Call and trip out to the vets to pick up more insulin for him. That in itself isn't bad. The vet's office is on the interstate, what's bad is that you have to drive past the office to the next turn about a mile down the interstate and backtrack to the office. It turns a 20 minute one way trip into 25 minutes. We asked them why the state didn't put in an access for them and the vet told us they had tried and got told there wasn't enough distance between the office and the next turn.:smack

The rest of the day has been trying to play catch up.

I've failed so therefore have given up. Fresh start for tomorrow.

I waited until 10:50! When nobody waved, and the state trooper passed by for the third time,
I decided to call it quits. Sorry I missed you!
:gig
Guess I better have your phone number for next time so we don't miss each other. That won't be until April or May though so find something to occupy your time until then ;)

And have big jugs of sanitizer.
Which give me instant migraines.

Really? Flashing lights are one of my triggers.
