The Old Folks Home

How is Varn today still a bit down never said I gave Moose a tramadol the day his where taken
He's not moving as fast outside but pretty much himself inside. All his brothers and sisters are trying to take care of his boo boo. Can't say that he appreciates them nosing around there. I imagine he's wondering what might get whittled off next.

I gave him a Rimadyl last night. May give him another half tonight.

This vet doesn't incise the scrotum. He incises higher and leaves about an inch and a half incision that he 'glues' shut. The vet back in IL would actually incise the scrotum and then trim it. This actually seems to heal better and the excess skin slowly tightens up.

Had a shock last night. I went to check on a missed call on our phone and discovered that our 'mailbox was full'. Hmm, no notifications of any missed calls other than the one we got yesterday so I went to work dumping the voicemails which were mainly from Silver Script reminding me about refilling my blood pressure medicine...which I do not need reminded about, thank you very much for thinking about me but stop it sort of thing.About mid way through there was a phone call from a 'third cousin' who lives in Arkansas telling me that my second cousin, her mom and one of the few relatives I claim along with her daughters and sons, was in the hospital in critical condition newly diagnosed with a brain tumor......in MAY, fergawdsake! I mean MAY! I got on line and sure enough, she had died the first of July.

I don't know whether to be mad at the phone company and their junk phone or upset at my brother who lived in IL and undoubtedly saw the obituary in the newspaper or his wife did and didn't drop me an email about it.

This cousin was a blessing to me when my mom's dementia got bad as she could talk her into the hospital when nobody else could.

I just hated that I couldn't even send flowers to her funeral or be there for her kids to have somebody to talk to.

This morning I still want to pound on the phone with a hammer! It's done this before, qued the voicemails and dumped them all in the mailbox at once, 2 or 3 months after the fact for us to find but with it doing that, this was bound to happen sooner or later. Undoubtedly, it's not the phone as much as the phone service and our location but still pretty perturbing.

Terrible things can happen when there are such long delays

if it’s any consolation, grieving relatives often have an outpouring of support in the immediate aftermath, which falls off quickly. A call from you now might be even more helpful

micro, Sorry about your cousin. I can understand your frustration about the phone message system too. You're going to have to train yourself to go through them, and clear out the old ones on a weekly basis.

The kids got a bit rambunctious last night, so I told them to go outside to each of the security cameras, and dance/shake their bootys in front of each of the cameras. That means they would have to go around the entire place, and the extra movement in front of each camera would burn off the excess energy. Understand, my yard is pretty well lit, and with the Christmas lights up, there was no visibility problem. Off they went, then all of a sudden, they came running back in screaming, and the middle child was crying, and afraid. A noise spooked them. They were in fear for their lives. Their mom, and I had been sitting on the patio watching them, and we knew what spooked them. When they went under the big Oak tree, they roused the birds that live in it.

I can't let the kids be afraid like that, so I told my daughter to get a broom, and give it to the middle child. Of course, the oldest had to get his nerf gun, and gave one to his baby sister too. Off we went. All of us. When we got to the tree, the birds were not happy, and fluttered their wings. When grandma, and mom kept walking, they walked with us. We told them to listen carefully. Now they know what the fluttering of wings at night, sounds like. I used to do this with my kids, when they were growing up. They learned the different sounds the local wildlife made both in the daytime, and at night, and were unafraid, except for alligators, and bobcats. They knew to quietly, and steadily withdraw from the area when they heard those 2 sounds.

I did the same thing, Cap. 18 inches to Locks of Love. They asked me if I would grow my hair out for them again and I told them it probably wasn't going to happen.
I chose a place that doesn't charge the patients for the wigs, forget what it is called. I may do it again, my hair is getting long.

Good morning old folks! Painted this fox this morning for a friend of mine who lost her mom a few days ago. She loves foxes and I hope this gives her a little cheer. She was really close to her mom
I got a second letter from DD yesterday. She told me of a way I can send a letter for her to get it almost right away. I sent her one through the app but they charge more than regular postage to use the service so I am going to do most of my letter writing the old fashioned way. I sent her the Grinch painting and some shampoo and conditioner that she asked for. I have to get another small care package together of stuff she needs (bandaids and neosporin). Apparently they haven't been allowed to go to the shoppette yet. I am surprised they don't supply bandaids. I know when I was in basic we just had to ask for one and the drill sergeants would give us one.
Well I am off to do some shopping with a friend and then I have to come home to work on some pillowcases I need to make for the hospice residents.View attachment 1980708
