Seriously. Folks are laughingly holding 'Corona' parties. With of course Corona beer being the guest of choice. This is happening here in a self admitted 'hot spot' where cases are doubling every 2 days. No wonder much of the middle of the country remains in denial.

But seriously, what is wrong with people any way? Yes, could be a state of denial could be a lack of intelligence or education but do they think this is just a big elaborate April Fool's Joke?

Man, I wish it was but I've been watching this unfold. since Dec 28th and been scared of what is happening, happening. Now it's here, it's happened and it's ongoing.

I did find out that while they said that we have cases in Macon County, we really don't....talk about convoluted. Seems the people (2) that they claimed tested positive, one was a rail road worker from Chicago that tested positive at the Macon Co. Health Dept but because he was from Chicago, they changed him to a Chi-town positive. The other tested positive somewhere else but lives in Macon, MO...but they are counting him as a positive where he tested but he is quarantined where he lives, which is in Macon...

Geeze and they wonder why people are confused. Get it straight guys!

I just discovered that the new owner of the Amish feed store sold my husband hog mash...sigh....though it was starter finisher for game birds. Opened a bag and SURPRISE! DH feels terrible and offered to take it back for me. I told him no, the birds would eat it if I had to mix it into a wet mash and feed it to them. No way I wanted him to be around anybody, let alone somebody who doesn't know layer food from 'hen food' and hog food from chicken food.

I hope somebody has educated the Amish community . I really fear that somebody has and their response was yeah, I heard about that flu. we all had the flu so we should be okay!

Or, oh yeah, the kids had that but we gave them some garlic and vinegar and they snapped right out of it...of course they use the same treatment for worms in their livestock so...I don't mean to sound cynical but I know how the Amish around here think.

@getaclue, I am so sorry. That is just plain horrible. There is no other way to look at it but I am so glad to know that you all survived it. Your guardian angels definitely had their wings spread over you all.

I guess the question going through my head is why hasn't the authorities clamped down on this family?

I read an atricle about someone that was working with notifying the Amish. I do not know if they did this in Missouri though

Good morning everyone!

I have absolutely no idea what is going on in our town as I haven't been off our property in about 5 weeks.

I do know that the owner of the local lumber yard and hardware store is donating his time and truck to deliver groceries to us old folks and other high risk people in the area. He's a super nice guy and I'm not surprised to hear that he is doing it.

Here on our farm, I was outside yesterday doing something in the chicken pen and saw Amish cart roll down the road filled to the brim with young women. They had 4-5 stuffed into that little cart and they were all dressed in their Sunday go to meeting meaning that they were going to some social event.

I just signed to myself and thought, well that answers that question.

Sunny and still windy here. I'm super sore from being out all day yesterday and doing some heavier work but hi ho hi ho it's off to shovel dirt I go!

It has been a quiet Sunday so fare. We watched a live church service and I am now compiling video for the website. They broke up the worship time at the beginning separate it from the sermon time. The worship video is up on vimeo converting. The Sermon video is much larger and had 5 minutes of dead time at the beginning. I cropped that out and am compiling the video which will take a bit of time with a 1.5G file. After that, I will update the website

I think it has to do with the way the initial information about it, was presented. They made it sound like the only people at risk, were the elderly, and those with underlying conditions. Everybody else would experience anything from cold symptoms to flu symptoms, but no big deal. Even now, the question is if you have cold - flu like symptoms. We know more now, than we did when it first started, and there have not been a lot of clarifications on the original statements.

While it's true that the elderly, and those with underlying conditions are at the highest risk for not being able to survive it, they failed to clarify that plenty of younger, healthy people would need to be hospitalized in order to survive it. Yes, their survival rate is significantly higher, but it's not the cake walk they've made it sound like.

Something else that is being brought to light, is if you have trouble breathing, get help. Those initial, mild symptoms, progress slowly at first, but in a few days, they don't even resemble the initial symptoms.
