The Old Folks Home

Exhausted mainly. The degree of pain I experience is directly correlated to how busy I am and I am definitely busy these days. But the garden is in except for the beans and corn and they will be planted in 10 days. I am waiting for the rest of the new hydraulic hoses to arrive for the tractor and then DH will haul dirt up for the containers that need filled. I did manage to get two tomato plants, 4 tomatillos and two summer squash plants in containers. I'm waiting to get two more containers done and then I can get a few more veggies planted in them.

Heading out now to work in the barn for a bit then coming and and doing a crash and burn in front of the TV with my quilt project.

How about you? How is the Lyme treating you these days? :hugs
You have been very busy!

Do you have pictures of the Garden?

Oh and I hope to revamp the lighting in the kitchen. I want pendant lights over the peninsula and task lighting over the stove and drawers. Also need a new Range hood and Rethinking back splash concept.

The counters will be butcher block. Easiest to get hold of and working with them will be easier as well. Nice stain and about four coats of spar varnish to protect them.

I found a source for Broken Talovera tiles by the pound and I am going to experiment with them do see how well I do. If I like the results that will be my back splash as well as a decorative free form mosaic along the wall. Right now there is no color.

White Shaker Cabinets All plywood construction with Maple doors. Then wood look floors. As well as Wood butcher block counters. Stainless Refrigerator and sink Black stove and Dishwasher. Kind of like a blank slate. Which I will color with wall hangings and art.

Sounds great, Deb. I love the plans you have laid out plus the shaker cabinets.

When we went to buy a new stove and fridge I wanted black. The sales person talked me out of it. He said if you have hard water you will constantly be fighting a filim that will show up whenever you wipe things down.

A friend spent big bucks on a black side by side fridge. A year after she got it I asked her how she and the black fridge were getting along and her response was a huff and an I hate it.

It looks cool but the upkeep is a you know what.

Luckily our water is a lot less hard now. It uses to be so bad that the faucets would bit together

Not yet. I want to get the rest of the tilled area raked out, get the straw mulch down around the transplants and then I'll take pics of it and the deck brick walkway project.

I've been fighting with a mole lately that has been tunneling under my bricks and causing them to heave. Last night I set and fixed 6 blocks and then in a fit of rage shoved the hose down a tunnel and gave it full blast. Little bugger didn't show up overnight so maybe he got the message.

The mole is likely hiding out in one if it's escape tunnels

I won't go into it here, but I am not a happy camper lately.
