The Old Folks Home

They buy carrots at the store, dig a big trench, put the carrots in, cover them up. Voila!

The Haskell Free Library and Opera House is in Derby Line, VT and Stanstead, QC.

If I drive to the city to the north of us I go from our town into the town to the west of us, then back into our town, then into the town NE of us then cross the city line. Takes about 1/3 mile to hit all those changes.

OK, I "Liked" that post because it ended well with a stand up guy helping you out but boy was I ready to click the :( . Super rough day for you :hugs

Learn something every day! I had thought that Mensch was more of a derogatory term (though I have no idea why).
They’re in different countries!? how does that work!?
Tears up @superchemicalgirl 's arm pretty well as I remember...
Oh wow!!!

Yeah, lots of bruises and skin breaks if I'm remembering the pictures right.

I gave up on the carrots, @bruceha2000 cultivated the area getting it ready to plant beans and corn over the weekend.

I do have a few seeds left. I think I'm going to fill one of my big flowerpots and see if I can't get them to germinate that way. Figure it's worth a try.

The big mystery is where did a half a row of sugar peas go?

I love peas, but I am not planting any because I think it's going to get very hot soon and I will end up without them anyway.

Garden culprits here have been for the most part.... Quail!

And when watering I found a Gambel's nest under the hops vines with 11 eggs in it. Accidentally flushed the mama out when watering. Will check back later to see if there are more eggs in the next few days before removal. Cannot let them stay there as my planting would just be feeding the wildlife. Hopefully the wildlife rescue does drop offs. Really don't feel like incubating them.

Trapped a monstrous male ground squirrel. Also out in the corn row bed (that hasn't been planted) were all sorts of odd divots in the smooth dirt. I'm guessing baby rabbits? The indentations looked like the surface of a golf ball but bigger. A real little hop fest, like their first venture out into the big world.

Sigh....

We have voles by the thousands, which is what I'm suspecting. I have some more seeds ordered to replant. It's getting a little late but the next two weeks are predicted to be a little cooler than normal so maybe that will give the a chance to germinate, plus maybe I can jump start them in a sunny window using the old wet paper towel/plastic bag trick.

When you're done Cap, would you make me a six foot tall wooden security fence around my backyard.? Tired of the buck that eats my plants. Wouldn't mind if he would at least shed his old antlers in my yard. Think I could barter with the guy next door and maybe he would cut my grass once to get them.
