The Old Folks Home

Mine is a 6qt from costco-- kirkland brand porcelain dutch oven. It has a metal lid button so it will not melt at 450F in the oven
I used a roasting pan with lid to bake crusty no knead bread first time, worked but too thin too hot. Recipe I read mentioned using the insert of a crockpot, I melted off the plastic button handle on the glass lid...
We still use it in the crock pot but it has a painted pink wood one now 😆
What they used was a porcelain non stick dutch oven. Oldest DD bought me a just plain cast iron dutch oven. Works great and have never had it stick, bread always comes out great. I only use it for bread though and keep it 'seasoned'.
She bought me a bread machine this Christmas I've used it many times, works great and easy. We all prefer the bread baked in the Dutch oven though.

Edit just went and checked the box, I still clean it up and put it back in its box. 5qt Ozark Trail, just a cheap cast iron dutch oven.

I think mine is a Lodge. I love making stew or a roast in the dutch oven on top of our stove. Our heating stove is an EPA. They claim they don't put out enough heat through the top to cook on them but ours puts out the highest percentage of heat through the top. It has a large baffle plate in it while the sides are lined with fire brick. We considered putting in a new baffle but read that you shouldn't replace them unless they are broken and so far, it's in one piece.

If you get too much browning on the bottom, take the bread out after 20 minutes with the lid on and put in onto a cookie sheet and then back into the oven

I cooked a turkey in my dutch oven... :drool But I tellyou what that SOB is heavy. I barely got it ouf of the oven. Its red enameled on the outside and white enameled on the inside.

I am told by jam makers they are the best for making jams and preserves.

Not a bread baker here but I would love to try some no kneed bread or soda bread.
