The Old Folks Home

@bruceha2000 we aren't brave enough to use rope. We generally use tow straps and chains. 6,000 pound pull strength on the chains which means they are a pain to pull around. Most of our property is sloped ridge country. Part of our pasture is flatish but even it has a degree of slope to it so we are usually facing pulling logs and limbs up a hill of some type.

I'm sure if my doctor or physical therapist saw me at work slinging heavy chains around and wrestling with these huge rounds of wood they would be yelling at me 'WE NEVER GAVE YOU THE OKAY TO DO THAT!'

So what they don't know won't hurt me!
you need to get a draft horse.... The following video showes Draft Ponies Logging. Its an awesome video. No hoses or air cleaners or getting stuck in the mud for them

The day before yesterday, the coffee maker stopped working. I don't think this one is a full 3 months old. I send Dd #1 to Walmart for another. I told her to get one of the cheaper models, unless they had the Black & Decker Vortex model. I tried showing her the picture, and model online, but she wasn't really paying attention.

She came home so proud of herself. She got the Black & Decker Vortex model. She even commented that when she was checking out, the lady commented that hers has lasted 2 years, unlike some of the other models, that seemed to die after only a few months. The model I showed her was about $35.00. The one she got was over $50.00.
I looked at the box. Hmmmmm, it didn't look anything like the one I had been looking at.

This one has a stainless steel carafe. I got it all unwrapped, and began setting it up to clean it. The first thing I discovered is that the hot plate, is NOT a hot plate. It doesn't keep the coffee warm. The carafe is to keep the coffee warm for a couple hours. If you make less than a full pot of coffee, you need to run some hot water in the carafe first, to heat it up, and ensure the coffee will stay hot. Um, I'm not too sure about that, but we don't make half pots of coffee around here, so I'll give it a fair shot. After all, the hot plate cuts off after a certain amount of time, so I guess the carafe will keep the coffee as hot, for as long as leaving it on the hot plate. I cleaned it, and made coffee.

Yes, it keeps the coffee very hot for about 2 hours after it's brewed. Because the coffee is not on the hot plate, the coffee tastes freshly brewed from first cup, to last. It's not a bad system except for 1 drawback. They did not include a way to tell how much coffee is left in the pot. No clear strip on the wall of the carafe, so you can see how much is in there. I'm tired of putting sweetener in my cup, then pouring coffee, only to discover there are 3 tablespoons of coffee left in the pot.

this is why we prefer the simple pour over filter paper into a vacuum jug method.

We estimate how much is left by lifting the jug - you soon learn what 1 cup, 2 cups etc. feels like.

I like that better but they will get on top and crap in it ya think

And if they are like my birds, they will then proceed to scratch all the grain out of it and make a mess of it.

Just had the feed store deliver 16 cattle panels for us to start the new enclosure to the dogs yard. Cattle panels for Cattle Dogs. They are the only thing we found that our last cattle dog couldn't chew his way through!

I discovered last night that my replanted sugar pea seeds have disappeared again. This time they left a clue...little holes dug in the soil every two-3 inches apart.....dang! Those little ******* can count and measure! But I suspect voles as being the culprits. Expensive vole food it was!
