That would be DW. If she's ill and whining like a baby I know it isn't anything serious. I worry if she isn't complaining about every little thing.
 
About 10 years ago I was dropping storm windows down at our home in Illinois when one of the sash cords broke the moment I unlocked the casement window. The upper window came down like a guillotine and crushed/cleaved the little finger on my right hand between the window frame and the lock mechanism on the bottom window. I jerked my hand back reflexively at the pain which was well.....BAD! And looked at my finger. To my horror the tip of my little finger was gone, along with the top of the nail joint. The nail and the tissue under it was hanging from the knuckle by a strand of tissue and the tip of my finger was crushed You could see the bone. DH heard me cry out and came running. He said I was as white as a sheet and made me sit down while he ran for a clean towel and a bottle of pain pills.

The poor man had just had sinus surgery the day before but was popping his pain medicine in my mouth, giving me drinks of water and ordering me to swallow. One look at my finger or what was left of it and he was packing me in the car and driving me to Galesburg and the ER. They took an xray of my hand, thought the tip was broken, cut off the destroyed tissue, sewed the tip back together as best they could and sent me home with an rx for pain meds. Poor DH was comforting me with packing strings hanging out of his nose. We were a pair, that was for sure.

The doc said the nail might or might not grow back. Surprisingly, it did. It took about three months and it didn't grow back 'normal' but by golly I have a nail there which was amazing. The tip of the finger is bulbous and very sensitive to pressure. They called it a diagonal amputation and the doc told me that a millimetre more and he would have been doing an amputation of the tip end of the finger. I was lucky. And the human body is amazing on what it can repair.

I have a sick Fayoumi hen tonight. She is very thin, weak. Alert but won't eat. She has never been a strong hen but I hate to see her go. Especially when I don't know what is wrong with her. Fayoumis don't get Marek's and are resistant to parasites. I suspect something reproductive but no swelling/water belly. Sigh. Sometimes you just wish they could talk to you.

Uh no Micro I never want to here one of these say (Hey you look a liitle tired ya know)
My dad had the index finger on his left hand gone from the same a old drop window.
The nail grew up over the finger if he wanted to correct you he would wap you with that finger :idunno:clapyou got thumped

Did you check for parasites?

My Dad had 2 finger tips amputated while working at a camera factory.
