The birds that are of English body type (heavy set) tend to eat while Mediterranean body type (light, like leghorns) tend to be more thrifty on the feed spectrum.

That is why I had to get rid of my Marans... the feed to egg ratio just killed me.

My Leghorns and Spitz eat so little in comparison.

Marans are bad but Bresse are worse! They eat so much!

I L-O-V-E Trader Joe's, but with this Covid thing it is extremely rare that I enter one. Foraging is mainly curbside pickup these days or rummaging around the freezer and pantry.

Same here, Ron. I was excited just to see people when I went to the city for my infusion appointment. Even though we were wearing masks it was soooooo nice just to talk to people.

I just cannot see things changing anytime soon unless a miracle happens and they come up with a working vaccine.

I do not know how long it will be before they let us back to the building at the University.

Morning all late up again seems to be getting more common for me..
I have just three marans 1 black copper hen, then a pullet and my new cockerel Smudge he is still pretty young .. Okay I wonder then if our trader joes has hatching eggs ?

Look for fertile eggs. Our Trader Joe's in Davis has them but the Trader Joes in Redding CA does not have them

They don't need a vaccine. We know so much more about it now, and the death toll has dropped radically, except in the media. The numbers of positive cases that the CDC is reporting, can be cut by half, and that's being conservative. Hospitals are back to doing routine admissions now, and routine surgeries. Most are only at an 80% capacity, which in most areas is low. The media keeps blowing things way out of proportion.
