The Old Folks Home

Dh is driving me crazy. He got the Corsair Vengeance LPX Ram. 2 x 16 gb/ 32 GB, 3600 MHz. It's the right ones, however, there is a known compatibility issue with my motherboard, and the LPX series of Ram. Instead of letting me research it, there was a sale, and he ordered $500.00+ worth of Ram for $360.00. In the meantime, we found the correct profile for my Ram, put the profile in, and it's working correctly now. While I don't need the new Ram, I will put it in when it gets here, since there are no compatibility issues with it, and I don't want to run into problems later on.

In the meantime, I was experiencing some screen flicker on my monitor, especially when running a movie on the tv, and using my monitor. I mentioned that I was very sure it was a cable problem. The Display Port cable we had on hand is quite old. The standards were different back then, so it's not transmitting data fast enough.

When we first set up my monitor, I told him there were 2 HDMI ports on my graphics card. The specs said so. In fact, THAT is one of the main reasons I chose the card. Nope, he could only find 1. I double checked the specs. Yes, there are suppose to be 2. Nope. Of course, I had to check for myself. I found it. He muttered something about why he didn't see that. I reminded him to put his glasses on. Yup, he could see again. I had to chuckle. I've done that too.

I switched from the Display Port cable (a new, 1.4 should be arriving tomorrow) to an HDMI cable. It's working fine, and no flicker. I have an Nvidia card, and G-sync requires a Display Port cable, otherwise I'd just keep using the HDMI cable.

We've got new HDMI cables coming too. BTW, if you ever need cables, one of the best places to order them, is called Monoprice, at monoprice.com

They make their cables, and yes they're one of the few that can actually show their certification, along with having the best prices. I've been using them for years. I found out about them, when PC World Mag. began asking questions about certifications. They began asking all the companies that claimed their cables were certified, to send proof of certification. Very few were actually certified. Most offered excuses. That's when they highlighted that Monprice, even with their very reasonably priced cables, actually sent a copy of their certification.

My middle daughter cracks me up sometimes. She sent me this link: https://www.squattypotty.com/ Does it really work?

Yes, it works! I love my Squatty Potty! The first time I saw one was in my doctor's office restroom and I asked her about it. I bought one on her recommendation and I've had it for years now. No regrets!
