The Old Folks Home

I know of one other person with my name, same middle initial even. She's on the far coast and about a decade or so younger. Sadly, now has a criminal record and has become a hard luck case (lost cushy County job after assisting in drug sales, too.) I've nearly scrubbed the internet of my info. Getting paranoid about my stuff being out there. Guess I'm ready to win the lottery, eh?

Obituaries: Does anyone else read the obits and play the over/under game?

Our new air-con unit is up and running and it is....nirvana! I can actually feel breezes of cool air. However, won't get to enjoy it too much this morning as I have to clean out the secondary coop to move the brooder pen occupants thereto.

Hatch Day! Seven out so far, 2 blue-feathered olive eggers (they are bruisers!) and 5 French Black Copper Marans. Still have 6 eggs in waiting. One egg (an olive egger) was hatching upside down, it had assistance coming into the world and discovered a radically deformed chick, so had to cull. Kind of wish I hadn't helped it and let it perish in the shell, but culling was the humane thing to do. Sad start to a Saturday and before my first cup of coffee.

It's arthritis plus I have plantar fasciitis. I discovered 10 years ago that I have deformed bones in my feet. I knew I had weird toes but had no idea that the problem was more extensive than it looked. The doctor was amazed that my feet weren't bothering me more than they were. Not much to be done about it other than wearing heavy duty arch supports.

I was always clumsy as a child and even as an adult but never thought it was because of my feet being deformed. Funny thing is that nobody caught it as I was growing up. They function normally enough as far as walking and running go. I just have to watch where I'm going and wear shoes that give me good support.

Good morning Old Folk! Can you believe that we are in the middle of August all ready. I heard on the radio a few days ago that they are already fretting about the upcoming holidays and 'oh what are we going to do with people not able to get together wah wah wah'. Come on guys, the holidays are going to happen whether the Corona Virus is around or not. Stay safe, Stay home and break with tradition. Start a new tradition with a small intimate family get together. It isn't going to kill anyone, single or married with a big family if you stay at home one year. In fact, it could probably save your life it you are in an area where the virus is flaring up or where you have folks who are high risk in your family.

Locally we have seen a 800% increase in cases in our area in the past 4 weeks. That is a huge jump. People are wandering around without face masks like everything is normal when it is far from it. I can't believe the number of 'ostriches with their heads in the sand' that are out there. Their attitude is 'if we ignore it, it will go away' sort of thing. And with the regular flu season lurking out there I fear we won't see the end of it for some time.

Rant for the day over, :lau Y'all have a GREAT Saturday!
Foot pain is not fun!

We are seeing a decrease in infections here. It is rare to see someone without a mask here.

My grandmother was informed she was dead. They locked up her Social Security, Medicare, Bank account, etc. She went in person to the Social Security office. The person she spoke with, after confirming she was who she said she was, decided she was a bit too lively to be dead. Next came the fight with the computer. It said she was dead, and it was making sure she stayed that way. They kept having to call in people higher up the ladder, to override the computer. Finally, they resurrected her.

The kick in the pants was when she really died. The fight with the computer was to convince it she was really dead this time.

I have heard about that happening before!

getaclue -- The Gov here does a state of the State address weekly, mainly about Covid status. I want to throttle her with her skewing of the factual numbers! So we're on a more severe lockdown because our percentage numbers are, according to her, too high. What is not being said is that we used to have testing for all in the population, but she curtailed it to only testing for those that are symptomatic. So she starts quoting that our numbers of active cases vs. testing has spiked. DUH! And then she lists how many hospital beds are Covid cases, not mentioning that we've taken in the Covid hospital overflow from TX and AZ. The reality is, though, that our daily numbers of newly reported cases are going down, down, down. Such blatant manipulation, though, is maddening as we're repeatedly grounded for her "new math." (On a good note, the Restaurant Association has filed a lawsuit against her. )

For the record, the numbers that were being reported here, were not accurate. It was all over the local news. They caught over 33 labs, not reporting correctly. Truth is, our numbers are actually very low.
They've been skewed.
To date I still do not personally know one single person that has had it in our area. (Though IMHO we all have).
Skewed here in NY, nursing home deaths. They do not count any that left the nursing home to die in a hospital as a nursing home death.
One guy that was a friend of DW's family I don't personally know died of it, kinda sorta. He was hospitalized and on a ventilator for three weeks, came out of it was doing fine for a week. His family visiting him, had a wife and young kids.
His intestines burst. They operated, he died. Come to find out he hadn't pooped the whole time he'd been there. ....
Sounds like a lawsuit to me. Nope, the family can't. Our govenor signed a executive order nobody can be sued that has to do with covid..
