We were back in the timber today and the Mahindra slipped her fan belt. It made for an interesting half mile limp back to the old barn. DH was able to get it fixed.Thankfully no break, just got loose and fell off.

Like I said, I'll order some ethernet cable, surge protectors. That won't stop the surge from a direct hit, but the way I intend to connect them, it will prevent the surge from wiping out the whole system.

Imagine there is a million volts and a million amps coming through your system from a lightening strike/direct hit. A direct hit by a big enough lightening bolt and God is going to step in and take what He wants. We once had a lightening bolt come down in timber behind our property in IL. Left everything alone except the electric range. Fried it. With a ground in place. Mother nature is fickle for sure.

,Trust me, Clue, do some research before you buy. Lightening is the bane of every HAM operators existence and we all know that there really isn't any stopping a direct hit. You were very lucky that you didn't loose more than you did. That includes your house. But even with heavy duty grounds, surge protectors and all the safety equipment that geeky HAMS can think up, a direct hit is going to fry whatever it wants.

The lightening that started the fire was believed to have hit his tower/antenna and followed the coax wire to the house where the fire started. All safety measures were in place. HAMS are ultra protective of their radios some of which cost over 6,000 dollars. A tower can cost big bux also.

Best insurance against lightening damage is good insurance.

Hey all back there is grounding rod here was layed heavvens guess but BF will not remove it he showed me it .. Found the cell comapny I have been with like 15 years still shows me in Shelton where we lived before buying here 6 years ago
