Sorry to hear that, @CapricornFarm. Bloat is bad. As for the goat polio, well that ain't good either.

My hen, Screech has two babies. Both eggs hatched for her but she won't let me see them. I slid my hand under her and had little feet walking on the back of my hand. I'm going to get her out of her nest bucket tonight and settled into the broody coop nest box where she will have more room.

2 down, 6 to go next week.

Other than the larger comb, I do not see rooster features.

The wattles are flat and not round.

Are these california whites?

Looks like something with a bunch of Leghorn in it.

Leghorns have tricked me in the past, with girls getting HUGE BRIGHT red combs at stupid early ages.

So... with Leghorns I will no longer say "male" until clear male feathers come in... no male feathers on that one... so no telling yet.

Yes they are California whites.

Yes they are California whites.

I would hold off on judgement on Gender. California whites have huge combs and wattles even for hens.

The hackle and sickle feathers and crowing would be your best way to tell.
