The Old Folks Home

Well, the rat drama goes on. This morning I found the bacon baited trap sprung, no dead anything around, no new tunnels dug, no chewing on the bait noticed. Frustrating to say the least.

SO today I am the meanest person on earth. I put Screech back in the main troop and her chicks are now with the brooder room trio in the new coop. Nobody is happy except the three Brinsea hatched babies who think the big coop is just the next best thing to scrambled eggs and cracked corn!

Meanwhile, Screech is pacing the door, the babies are on the other side of the door crying and I'm feeling like ummmm b_____ of the year. They are 8 weeks old though and crowing for goodness sakes! Time to start laying eggs again, mom!

Hope y'all have a great Sunday.

G'day, all!
I love October as it's finally cool enough to enjoy yardwork.
Normally I take Sunday as a traditional day of rest, but the lawn is really shaggy and garbage goes out early in the week. Worked at clearing out some of the veggie compound yesterday (tomato row and bed of corn), but trugs not quite full yet and we're paying a premium for extra trugs. However, I do have a thick newspaper I might enjoy here for a bit before I rev up the little red Troy-Bilt Bronco (and thusly let the neighbors sleep in a bit, too.)
Hope everyone has a great day!
What was that first part about Sunday?

I crawled in bed last night only to have Lilbit, the neighbors dog crawl out of bed and scratch at the brooder room door.. I got him to come back to bed, and oops, there he went again scratching at the breeder room door.. So I go, open the door, turn on the light, he ran all over the room looking for 'something', then being satisfied there was no 'something' in the room, came out and jumped back up in the bed.. then at 4 am, he's whining and crying.. Let me out! I gotta peeeeeeee! Here's a pic of the little monster!

What are trugs ?
What are 'trugs'?
they are one of the most useful things in the garden! Just the right size and easiest access for carrying cut flowers, harvested fruit or veg, packets of seed, a few hand tools...a chicken, small dog, knee pads...you can get them made of basketwork, wooden slats, plastic etc. I have three! need I say more
trad trug with veg
