The Old Folks Home

Good Morning... Here's a pot 'o java! Coffee for those who don't speak javanese... lol.
I'm singing my hatching song this morning.. 5 out 5 eggs hatched! That was the last batch for this year so I'm feeling pretty successful now. Have a marvelous day!
Hatching chicks for the grandkids, 4 out last night during the how to build a fire session so we missed those. One hatched last night while we slept and one this morning while they watched. It pipped on the wrong end and hatched feet first! Hopefully more hatch today.

Doing pretty well. 4 of my grandkids and their parents are visiting here. Tonight I gave the older two a how to build fire lesson, followed by roasting marshmallows.

You are so lucky to be a grandma. It's one of those things I really miss not having kids. Enjoy them while you can because they grow up way too fast.

I witnessed something hysterically funny here this morning. Diesel let us know that he was ready for his morning walk by jumping against the inner door to the utility room and walking on his hind legs to push it closed. Once closed, he sniffed the crack to make sure it was closed, then jumped down, ran to the kitchen door and started telling me to hurry up, he was ready to go!

And they call them dumb dogs!

They are loving the experience. Today we have chicks hatching, their mom was videotaping.
I was cleaning the workshop yesterday. Took out lots of wood scraps. Hubby built me a rack for the other wood.

it's been a lovely autumn day here, mid 50s, and various plants are beginning to fire up their spots in the garden View attachment 2377617
I'm still waiting on some color here.. Only trees we have that will turn are Maples and Sweet Gum trees. Pecan trees are starting to shed, while the regular oak will hold off a while.. Live oak won't do much shedding until spring.
