Cap, I LOVE it! I am always impressed when people think outside the box when it comes to building coops. When people do these coop builds and not that I think there is anything wrong with it if you can afford it, and they have what looks like a construction company come in and build a coop better than most houses people live in, I'm not nearly as impressed as when I see people use materials at hand and build a castle for their back yard flocks. I'll someday when the weather permits get a picture of my first coop which is still up and running. We built it out of left over wood from other projects and odds and ends that we drug out of our office's attic. Windows we found left behind in the barn attic when we bought the farm, etc. It's almost 6 years old and going strong!

What are you planning to house in your latest build creation?

@CSolis, I bought a bag of pet grade alfalfa on Walmart.com. Closest I can get to cubes right now. The local Orschelns in Kirksville had 40 pound bags but we can't get there right now for curb service. Heck, we can't get anywhere. I told my husband that we should give them 24 more hours and if the road isn't cleared we need to call the silly road commissioner and remind him that old people live on this road who need food deliveries!

Maybe our cats will enjoy a nibble but it will be a way to see if my chooks love alfalfa. If they do I'll get a larger bag when I can.

And the deck. You can tell by the rings in the snow on the table how many snows we've had and how deep it is.

The bridge was on a regular road that the snowmobilers use to get to the other side of the river, same as all vehicles. BUT one is not supposed to run snow machines on the regular roads other than to cross them, or in this case the river. They are not equipped with things like turn signals so are not road legal. Not sure what the state will do in that regard. I'm sure they will eventually replace the bridge but I doubt it will be a nice scenic covered bridge. I have no idea what the trails look like to know if they can run on both sides of the river to get back to the trail by the bridge or not.

Ah okay that makes sense! It’s really unfortunate it was one of the historic ones. 😭 maybe people will petition or something and try to get a replica made? Probably not though but one can hope haha

They seem to like it and it has great nutritional value. Right now where there's not much in the way of forage I thought it might be a good way to keep up their 'greens'.

Mine did not like alfalfa cubes. They did like timothy hay though. It is sold for Rabbits
 
CSolis -- When I was raising meat birds they were fed alfalfa flakes regularly. Alfalfa has purifying (antioxidant) agents and it did make the meat taste better, IMHO. Also it helped to strengthen the tendons in the birds (Calcium/Phosphorus ratio) so that there was less loss due to tendon slippage. Just had to remember to provide grit or the crops ran a risk of getting impacted with fiber.

DH had his first Covid vac today. I guess I'm too young and healthy to qualify yet -- yeah, right -- so I gave a double of blood at Vitalant. Ate far too many Cheetos afterwards; I should've stuck to the free cookies.

Our weather for Valentine's Day is dipping to 8 degrees. (It's 60 right now) It's our anniversary, so DH booked a table. Pandemic had us sitting on a patio, but our Gov relented to allowing 25% indoor restaurant usage, so DH retooled the reservation for warmer dining. Don't think the food or us would've stayed warm for long on the patio in the snow. (Takeout available instead)
Funny how our Covid-positive test numbers suddenly improved when the statistics people decided to figure the Covid cases based on residence and not testing location... Suddenly the metro areas were no longer critical! (Well, duh. NM is fairly rural, so folks were driving to the big city where tests were fast and available.)

Happy Anniversary!

In California, restrictions are base on region. We have multiple metrics that they check. One of them is available ICU rooms.
