Morning everyone. I was actually up and moving before 7.
not moving real fast but moving none the same.

Working on coffee and home made cinnamon rolls at the moment hoping a bit of a sugar buzz will help me perk up a bit.

@CapricornFarm. Looks like hubby got a good deal on that car with it looking so nice and being only 4 years old. I know people who trade cars in ever 3-4 years just because they can afford to buy a new car that often. Others just don't want to keep them longer as they believe that is when some start to have repair issues. For me, a 3-4 year car has just been broken in and is good to go!

@CSolis, I bet Prince isn't a Prince to clean up after. Look at the bright side though. You saved his life, given him great TLC, had some memorable experiences with him and his dog buddy (gator is really going to miss him) PLUS, he isn't an Elephant or a horse in that parade.

The good news is that it's in Russia. The bad news is that the virus has jumped the human/animal barrier. But more good news is that it isn't spreading from human to human....yet. Bad enough that it is raising it's ugly head in the avian population again.

Supposed to reach the mid 30's today and then day time temperatures in the 40's for several days.

This snow has shown me one thing.... Footprints! It looks like my chickens have a visitor every night. Hmm, a fox checking to make sure my chickens are safe in bed every night? If I'd meet him I'd assure him it's not necessary, he's wasting his time! I MAKE SURE they are inside before dark!

Foxes will snatch chickens day or night. Beware!

I see fox prints all over our property and around our run. I'm sure one has checked out the hot wire because some of the prints go right up to it. Whether they have stuck their noses on it or not I don't know but I never see any prints in the run, which is covered with netting only.

But I'm stunned to see how many tracks there were in the snow before it got too deep. Now I'm just finding prints outside our fence but I hold no hope that they are staying there.

Our snow has melted. The chickens have left their garage camping and are back out in the coop/run. Time for yardwork/pruning/cleanup, but THE WIND. Not mere breezes, but the gusty kind that knocks over garbage cans. Oh, well. Sunday is a day of rest, after all...

Rub bacon on the wire....

We thought about hanging some bacon over the wire but A) Stupid chicken would reach through and pull it off and get shocked in the process. Or B) Stupider dog would make a grab for the bacon and get shocked. A lot funnier than the chicken getting shocked but harder on your ears. Yeah I know that sounds terrible but you have to see it to believe it. What's funny is one of our young cattle dogs went galloping up to the fence and put their noses right on the hot wire. One yelped, jumped back, ran a few steps to put some distance between it and him and then stood and barked at the fence and the chickens like those chickens pulled Uzi's from under their wings and pepper him with bullets. They have all made contact with that hot wire and if avoid the run like the plague but if bacon was involved, all bets off!

Every time we walk the dogs past the run my husband tells them that those chickens are mean! Leave them alone!. They must remember because they give the run a wide berth.

Yup, he's no elephant but still uses more toilet paper than I do in a week! Here's some learning enrichment. I didn't teach him this, he was just nosy about the sounds on the tablet. He kind of leaves me alone when I'm reading which is nice.. Next thing he'll be wanting to turn the pages faster.

He tried to eat the gems from the tablet.. but then he tries to eat the food on the bag labels too.

I wish I could do both love and laugh emojis on that one! What a hoot! Looks like he prefers the red cherries to the others.

I've really enjoyed his healing journey with you. Prince has such a beautiful face and shape to his comb and waddles. Three of my bachelors have frost bite on their big dangly waddles. I told them that once the bad areas shriveled, dried and fell off they would be much happier and not miss them at all. My boys with waddles the size of Prince's came through the freeze without any damage.

Gotta love small combs and waddles on roosters.
