The Old Folks Home

We all worked some, and got the door made, the railing up, the door attached to the sliders, then lifted the door to get the sliders into the rail. A few adjustments, and it's done. It was a LOT of work, and expense, but it slides real easy, and looks nice. I can't really say it's worth the expense on the building we're using it for, but at least Dh learned how to do it, which is what he wanted. For a barn, nice large storage shed, boat house, etc., I'd highly recommend that type door. For a pump house, or smaller shed, not so much. It's overkill. Next job is to paint it.
It sounds like a nice addition to the Barn.

Don't ya just hate it when the snow plows push heaps onto the end of your driveway?
The last quarter mile of our road is private. No county plows come through there. One of the neighbors has been plowing with his Kubota multi-purpose yard thing. He comes as far as our driveway, and yeah, snow wash piles up at the end. That neighbor usually goes south for the winter, but covid kept him here this year. Hubby hopes he goes south next year so he (hubby) can plow the road with the Falcon plow.

Can't complain about the neighbor's plowing. Last year, hubby did the entire quarter mile with a walk behind snow blower.

I hope we are more back to normal next year!

Good morning!
Yesterday DH and I went to a big box store and picked up a dozen bags of mushroom compost. Today I'll churn them into the raised beds and, if not exhausted, get the peas planted. Supposed to have big winds tomorrow, so it might be Monday for entrenching.

Wonderful bright moon last night. Almost made me want to howl!

The doors on our barn are like that... nice to have the doors slide to the side and not get in the way.
After you shovel the snow out of the way ;) Of course I find that easier to do on the sliding barn doors than the gate or the "swings out to open" door to the lower part of the barn. Don't have to move as much snow.

So that's why our dogs were howling?! Of course with our dogs it doesn't take much to get them going...kinda like the chickens when a plastic bag blows across the yard.

Happy Saturday everyone.57 degrees here today. We took the dogs out for a slog around the pasture. A good 95% of the 9 inches of snow we had on the ground is gone. There are some patches in shadey areas but that's about it. Everything else is just soggy.

We are still waiting for the roof avalanche snow and ice to melt so we can pull the posts and fence loose. The dogs running and jumping over it hasn't helped any. I told my husband, maybe by June...if we are lucky. That side of the house faces north so it will be the last snow to go

Spring peepers. Not for another month here. I am starting to see some flocks of geese move to the north east but the big flocks will start any time and go to the north west. I've seen flocks of geese, swan, snow geese and ducks fly over continuously for a whole afternoon. It's a pretty amazing thing to see.

Name changes? Ummmmm. IMHO to be avoided at all costs. Hard on us old folks. Just going to have to start referring to anyone younger as 'Kiddo'.

Just don't stop calling chocolate chocolate or I'll have to get my attitude on.:rant

One time, many years ago, I got to work early and had a few minutes to wait. It was one of those bright clear nights with a full moon, and it was about an hour to sunrise. I sat in my car and howled as loud as I could at the moon.

As I walked to my station, I said to the woman who worked next to me, "Did you see that gorgeous full moon? I howled at it, it was so beautiful!"

She looked at me and said, "You're weird."

Yup. I am.
