The Old Folks Home

Microchick do you still have Varn? Or did he escape for real??
Oh heaven's no! Varn is our baby and quite the character. They are all doing well and starting to mature...finally, she says breathing a sigh of relief. We take them out every day as weather permits for a walk and they look forward to the outing. DH walks three of them and I take Sidney and Varn. Varn is so funny in that he insists that he walks with me and Sid and if DH takes him, and walks ahead of us, Varn's trying to turn around and strain towards me like he's upset that I'm not in control of his leash. Yet when we are in the hobby room with him, he's all over DH, sitting in his lap and laying by him. He's just a funny little dog and he reminds me in so many ways of our late Dingo that it will bring a tear to my eye sometimes watching him.

I really need to get some updated pictures of the little heathens when the weather settles down and things green up better.

How you been doing DD?

It rained last night here.

The egg turner in the incubator failed, and the thing had less than 2 weeks worth of use all total. Crummy equipment.

Edited for an update: I shook the egg turner, and it seems to have restarted. Hope it survives long enough for me to get a new and better setup.

Saturday morning yummies. Here's how I mix the alfalfa cubes in with the chicken food. Normally my kids get 1/3 layer pellets, 1/3 flock grower and 1/3 scratch. They all seem to like it and pick out what they want. A few times a week I heat up some alfalfa cubes in a pan with water until they fall apart, strain off most of the water and then mix it in with their food. They go wild on the days alfalfa shows up in their feed trays. And it's easy peasy.

My turner jumped the track somehow, not sure when... they were only two days along, so I stopped that incubation. There will be more when the Nurture Right 360 gets emptied.. maybe.. need more pens again.

Windows are all open today, airing out the house.. Love when spring does arrive.. don't have to run the heat or a/c.
Funny guys running new telephone lines this morning. There was one guy standing on the back of a truck responding to the roosters as the truck passed by. I was out feeding and just giggling. He does a pretty good impression. I was looking around to see where the new 'voice' came from. I have my 4 guys pretty well pegged so I know who's cockadoodling.
