The Old Folks Home

Today was a great day, got the biggest laugh when I went out to make sure everyone had feed and water. I took grapes with me, and the pen where Bruce and his 'ladies' are has a cinder block where I sit to give treats. I was tossing grapes and one of the hens picked it up and shook it.. It went flying between the legs of another hen from the backside, and that caused the hen to jump up in the air like she had seen a snake or something.. I started chuckling and the rooster in the hoop coop behind me started cackling along which just made me laugh all the harder... and he cackled even harder!
Now it's dark outside and I hear one of the hens throwing a hissy fit, so I go out, flashlight and .22 in hand, only to find that Bruce somehow managed to get up on top of the hen house and he's on top of the deer netting! I'm going to have to fix the hole between the tree trunks so he can't sneak out any more. This morning he was over in the other side of the big pen and couldn't figure out how to get back to where his gals are.. He's such a dunce!
I wonder where he'll be in the morning when I go out to feed.

They are the only feed store in town now!
I put a negative review on their site for our TSC. Took a pic of their bad feed (big clumps of green hard not sure if mold or just minerals and such not mixed up right but no way I'm feeding it to my birds) with the comment that I would just buy from our local feed mill store for now on. They took the review down said it didn't meet their criteria for a review. What ticked me off the most was they deleted my review. I always check out reviews for anything online, products and restaurants some great places usually have some bad reviews read both make my own decision based on them, I personally witnessed TSC taking down a bad review.
We're down to one local mill now, did have two.

I've always had positive experiences with my TSC. Just goes to show that the corporate office can ruin the whole company, all in the name of a buck.

I wish that the people in the store (mine are very helpful and nice) RAN the store.

Since it's a small town, they know most of the people who come in. And that word gets around, especially in a small town.

Hope everyone had a good Easter!

I've got to make a decision about my Ameraucana hen. I checked her last night and she has a classic case of abdominal ascites/water belly.

She laid a few eggs in January when the girls started laying again. Stopped when the weather turned bitter cold, started laying again and then stopped laying in less than a week after starting. Checked her last night and she is a balloon. Will probably have to put her down. Sad. She's a nice hen.
