Buy some crampons

Cap said what I was going to post. I don't think any boots are good on ice without them. And they are much cheaper and easier to find than a pair of warm and comfortable boots.

Cheaper yet than crampons, a box of quarter inch hex head metal screws strategically screwed into the tread of a pair of comfortable old boots! That is what DH did for us. No falls on ice in two or three years now!
We have cleats... but I don't like putting them on and taking them off...it hurts my fingers. :idunno

And often I don't have any idea of just how icy it is until I am outside and walking about.

And... spouse bought these 2 heated mats to cover the sloped Bridge to our front door... anything too spiky would tear up the mats.

I actually used to have boots from north face with the coolest treads. They had spots on the tread that were sticky on ice. It is just those boots were a bit big, and now they are worn out.

Anyway... that is what I need, another pair of boots with cool grippy tread.

I don't watch the news any more. Folks in the town where I live are friendly and helpful. For the most part.

You're not missing much. Honest journalism has fallen to the wayside and it's mostly all agenda propaganda.

I used to be a news junkie -- the vestiges of a journalism/mass com major -- but we've cut waaaaay back on our consumption. Mainly watch news for the weather forecasts nowadays.
