The Old Folks Home

My Grandfather had shingles and suffered terribly, then my step mom had it and 4 months later was still having problems. I was on Oxymatrine (ku shen, or sephora root) at the time when I got shingles. I doubled the dose and within 3 days was on the mend with no itching or pain. The Oxymatrine was for Hep C (which keeps the liver cool chemically so the virus can't replicate). TCM has it's advantages, since there are no side effects.
Luckily they have the shingrix vaccine now that is very good at preventing shingles!

DH took the first shingles vaccine and got sicker than a dog on it. Flat on his back for 3 days. I've had shingles so nope, not taking it. I did take the Prevnar Pneumonia vaccine and was the same way. Flat out for 3 days and my arm swelled to twice it's size.

I don't mind taking vaccines. I just have a problem with hitting myself in the head with a hammer. But because of our severe reactions to common vaccines we made the decision to hold on the Covid Vaccine until it is FDA approved for general use. Some people I've talked to say that they have breezed through it. Others, nope, no breeze. More of a tornado with lots of hail, lightening and destruction.

Morning Folks.

Two calls from MIZZOU this morning. One with the GI Doc who gave us an update. She is still refusing food and water vitals are good. Diarrhea has slowed. CT scan between 11 and 12. Then the phone rings again, this time a surgeon who talked us through what they may have to do. Ye GADS is all I can say. They think the 'obstruction' is in her ilius and everything will depend on how much intestine they have to take in order to clear out the problem.

I have to admit, I just started feeling a sinking sensation as he talked. That poor baby. We have decided that if they can clear the area with minimal tissue loss they can go for it but if they have to take out a large amount of her ilium that will leave her with chronic problems that she will be dealing with for the rest of her life and have to take medicine for, we aren't going to let her wake up.
