CS, I've been saying that for awhile now. We used to have an air trough that would drop down during the fall months, during hurricane season. It did a great job of repelling most of the hurricanes, and storms, or at least keep them moving away from us. Last year, that trough was barely there, and this year the same thing. Tropical storms that should have veered, have not. Several tropical storms, and hurricanes that should not have stalled, did. Several that did not have solid defined eyewalls, should have dissipated quickly, but did not. Nothing is "normal" about the behavior of many of these storms. Look at rain patterns. Those too have been way off, not just this year, but for the past couple years. No, it's not about pollution, or climate change alone. I agree HAARP is highly culpable.

Which brings me to another thought I had this morning. After being on land for a period of time, when was the last time you saw a hurricane pick up speed and water like IDA has done, to drench the NE in such a fashion?

It is mostly climate change or it would not be happening as fast as it is.

It seems like there is a certain group out there that wants to deny climate change, likely to continue making money off of things like fossil fuel. That group dupes a different group into believing them.

Well I'm guilty of not believing in climate change, but there are a group of people that are heavily into making big money even more than the oil barrons. Remember, there are the lords and the serfs. Guess which class we are in. The other group is Big Pharma.

Electric cars need electricity to recharge. You plug them in. Where does that electricity come from? Power plants. What do most power plants use to produce electricity? Coal. What does coal produce? Pollution.

That depends on where you live. No coal up here, my power company is primarily hydro, solar, wind and nuclear. Our solar panels generate more electricity than we use, including the the electricity going into our cars' batteries. While it is true that we charge overnight so we aren't directly using our power in the cars, we are generally providing electricity to the grid during the "peak" daytime hours. At least in the non winter months I wish residential wind turbines were a more reliable source but I've heard they are not.

Google's answer to "what percent of us electricity comes from coal" is 19.3%, nuclear and renewables are each the same percentage. Natural gas is 40%

I don't know about all the different "traction batteries" in various electric vehicles but according to Google the Leaf's batteries are made in TN and the Prius Prime's in Japan. It would be nice if the USA could figure out how to bring manufacturing of a LOT of things back "in house".

And I hope you don't think I'm arguing with you, just having a discussion. I know there are downsides to every imaginable "solution" to electricity generation and transporting our bodies and all the 'stuff' we 'need'.

My trouble with sleeping is I usually can fall asleep, or close to it. Then, half an hour later I'm wide awake, for hours, sometimes.

I usually fall asleep pretty fast but DO NOT wake me up in the first 15 minutes or that "power nap" will have me up for a couple of hours.

Many rivers here still cresting and flooding is widespread. Flood damage may exceed that from Sandy, but wind damage is less; although, some are still without power.

Like I mentioned before, I've never seen a hurricane act like this before where it basically kept speed and picked up moisture over so much land mass.
