The Old Folks Home

With everyone feeling so poorly I'm almost ashamed to admit that I'm feeling pretty okay right now.
Well you surely deserve to!!!!

Bruce, I would think that if the IRS is going to send you something like that wouldn't they send it via registered mail?
That would be nice. I don't think they want to deal with the cost or receiving the return receipt. IF I ever get ahold of them I will ask why they think we owe 4X what I think they owe us. And if they are going to mail something I'll ask that it come registered to make sure it gets here.

I get an email every day telling me what mail is coming and I've not seen anything from the IRS other than Biden's March letter DD1 got a couple of weeks ago (in an IRS envelope) telling her they were putting $1,400 in her account. Not sure why she got the letter now and not sure how they can put money in her account because I don't think they have that info. Plus, if this is the regular "Covid money", her Fed taxes this year include the credit for last year since she was our dependant the prior year so the Feds didn't count her as eligible this year. She owed no taxes but SHOULD be getting $3K back (haven't seen that I don't think) $2K "stimulus" and $1K Education Opportunity grant ('cause she's old).

OK, the good news:
I got through to the IRS. Not on the number on the letter which is 800-829-8374, they are always too busy and say "call back" but I looked on the IRS site and it says that number is for "Tax practitioners". There is another number for "Taxpayers" 800-829-4933. This one let me leave a callback number.

And the BAD news:
We do owe them money, seems the overpayment from 2019 to be applied to 2020 taxes was entered in Turbotax both as an estimated payment on April 15 2020 AND on the line for overpayments applied to 2020 taxes :(

Story goes here Ma had a viking kinda akin to mine.
Dad wanted to surprise her. He bought a new machine for her, Trading in her Viking.. Hers had to be older as this all happended like in 68 or 69.
Ma tried to get her old machine back but they had sold it to somone else. I have no recal of the color. Mine is a little green machine it's other name.
