The Old Folks Home

I used to have 6 chickens sleeping in my lap, now only one comes running and even she doesn't want to stay since they tasted there freedom of having a whole yard to explore. I picked one up yesterday and she squawked bloody murder- I'm sure the whole neighborhood must of heard.

Morning Old folks this is another stormy day but temps came up so this can be bad it is close to 60 degrees out ..
Up to 68 degrees now and sunny. Leaf raking is done for today. Ms Sara was following me around the back yard today then disappeared for a bit. I was dumping a trash barrel full of leaves in the back pen when I heard a far off hen call. I went searching in the direction the call came from and found her coming down the steps from the front deck. She just won't stay put but always rejoins the group when she's done exploring.

I'm a bit baffled by my 8 week old corn kernels. None of them are showing signs of elongated saddle feathers or hackle feathers though a few of them were trying to crow at 4 weeks. They are half Buff Orpingtons so I'll have to do some research on that.
