The Old Folks Home

Weather is finally settling down here. Wind gusts 55MPH at the airport south of Kirksville. I'm betting prolly higher here the way the house was shaking and moaning. We went out and did a walk around. All the radio antennas are more or less up and intact. We may have to tighten a few guy wires but that's it. I walked out and checked the coop and the roof is still there. Everyone seemed to have their little heads tucked under their wings. Nary a peep or trill out of them. My poor coop is in such delicate shape that I worry about the wind with it. My husband says all the metal we put on it plus the new walls being anchored to the concrete floor is holding it together.

We did have a radio net tonight and got reports from other HAMS in the area.
So far the only reports are tree damage, a few lost shingles and loss of power.

I'm sure what happened last week has everyone on their toes and a bit nervous. The strange thing is that most of the rain went north of us. Iowa had rough weather go through as did Kansas but all we got was a brief shower.

We really need rain...or snow. I'll pass on the ice but the other two, either will do.
