The Old Folks Home

Here's a question for the OF.

Last night I was doing a crossword puzzle, wearing my new readers. I probably spent an hour or so wearing them. When I took them off, I had issues with dizziness. Anyone ever had that?

But here's the thing. It's 12 hours later, and I'm still having some dizziness issues. Not bad, just a little bit off, better than last night. I was sure it would go away while I slept.

I don't *know* it's from the readers, so it could be a coincidence. But I can't think of anything else that could have caused it. :idunno
I have read that you can have issues like this from progressive lenses.

Have you had any concussions lately?

I love the smell of clothes dried on the line. I love the fact that it's free and "green."
I always seem to be the odd man out. I don’t like chocolate. I don’t like coffee. I make my bed the minute I get up, unless Ken is still sleeping in it. And I don’t like line-dried clothes!!! Oh, sure….they smell good. But they‘re stiff and scratchy and I hate that!

@Sally PB - get thee to yon physician!! What you’re experiencing my be vertigo. It has to do with the little crystals in the inner ear getting out of alignment. So let me ask you a diagnostic question or two. When it happens, do your eyes “dance”? Sounds stupid but the eyes fluttering uncontrollably either up and down or side-to-side during an episode is a common sign of vertigo. Second, do you feel like you’re listing to one side when you try to walk? If you’ve ever been ridiculously drunk, that’s kinda how it feels.

I‘ve had vertigo for over 10 years. When it first happened, I went to a good ENT who tested me for it, then scheduled me to have the Epley Maneuver done. Neither thing is pleasant. There’s no pain involved, but if they offer you a barf bag or bucket, my advice is to take it! The one-time maneuver worked for years and years, but I was told it can sometimes take a couple of treatments, and it can still come back. I was totally vertigo-free until about two months ago. I’m scheduled for another treatment in mid-March so until then I just have to live with it. It’s made settling into the house and getting painting and such done a real challenge because any rapid movement, rapid head-turn, or reaching up over my head or moving my head to look down brings on an episode.

Get it checked!!! You could be seriously injured if you lose your balance and fall, or if it happens while you’re driving or carrying a hot pot to the sink. And keep us posted!

You suffer with dizzy? I call it woozy. Yes, I did have a crystal causing yavicy, but he told me he could fix that, but not what I was in complaining about. No one can figure me out. I've been to about every specialist out there. I have some better days, but am walking around like I've taken two or three Lortabs. No fun. Neurologist says..some people like that. Not.. 🙄. I walk with a cane now on some days.

Yep. You is a puzzlement!! I’ve had to resort to dragging out the stoopid walker again until I get my maneuver done!
