The Old Folks Home

Lol, they hate it when i come in with a list.
I have to take a list, or I forget something. My doc is a good guy. He asks me about stuff I asked about the last physical, to see what's going on.

I also try to be "one of the nice ones." When a PA asked if a student could be present during my exam, I said sure. She has to learn, so I'm fine with that.

Asked me if I would be willing to add some weight lifting to my exercise regimen and I told him I would definitely do that.
You need to stop lifting rounds and carrying split wood. Instead, do something useful like going to a gym to lift weights ;)

I suppose there is some validity to a planned weight program to use different muscles.

Concerning for sure - I have a bad feeling.
Me too, that is probably a problem for most of us. If we get hit by a bus or Covid, or a sudden heart attack, no one knows to let our virtual friends know.

I did that my last visit before the one this week. He kept trying to get out of the room and I said, whoa whoa whoa, I'm not done yet, I have a couple other things I need to discuss with you.
I suppose it could be useful to mail the list to the doctor a week prior so they know what a patient wants to talk about. But then if they have a 15 minute slot, I don't suppose they can deal with more than a thing or two.

When a PA asked if a student could be present during my exam, I said sure. She has to learn, so I'm fine with that.
I've never understood why someone would say no to that request. Book learning only goes so far and their current doctor ages same as the rest of us mortals. Who the heck does such a person think is going to take care of them or their children if no one gets hands on training?

The cancer center, and I are driving each other crazy. On Sept. 28, I was scheduled to get labs done, and the infusion center had to give me my monthly Faslodex (fulvestrant) shots. We just happened to have a hurricane hitting then. They called with a recorded announcement that they would be closed that day, and at least the next day as well. Call to reschedule any missed appointments. Monday morning, I got on the phone. After a couple hours on hold, there was an option to be put on a queue, and it would ring my phone when it got to my turn. No call back.

Tuesday, I was able to get the main switchboard, but there was no answer at the infusion center, which is who has to re-schedule my appointment. I decided to hold. After an hour, I decided to be put on the queue, thinking that maybe something went wrong the day before. I got confirmation that I was in the queue. I then called back, and left a message on their answering system.

Wednesday, rinse repeat. HOWEVER, on Wed. while on hold, I was informed I could go into my portal, and request an appointment. After I did all the steps on the phone, I hung up and went onto my portal. In the explanation section, I clearly put that I had been scheduled on Sept. 28, but due to the hurricane, my appointment was canceled, and I need an appointment ASAP.

Those fools sent me my current appointment schedule. They can't understand why I keep insisting on another appointment now, since I already have one for Oct. 26, Nov., and Dec. It's not getting through someone's head that I have to get these infusion shots every month, and while I already have them scheduled for each month, I MISSED the Sept. one due to the hurricane. I keep requesting an appointment for the one missed in Sept., ASAP, and they keep telling me I already have an Oct. appointment.

@bruceha2000, hind sight is always 20/20. I'm sorry I didn't think to say that when he suggested weight lifting. I probably do hit all the muscle groups between slinging chains and rolling 200 pound rounds into the tractor bucket.

I dare say at 69 I get one H of a lot more exercise than he does in his mid 50s. Should invite him out and tell him to try to keep up with us some summer day.

@getaclue, I don't know what I say other than to err is human and to really screw up it takes a computer.

I used to call BC/BS who was my insurer while at the office and select 'provider' in the prompts. When I got through to a human being they would ask the name of the provider and I would give them my husband's name and then give them my information. Worked every time. Once I said, now that I have your attention, let me say this. You should treat your customers the way you treat your providers. I'm both. Now help me.

They did. Sometimes you just have to be persistent and demand to speak to a human no matter who you have to crawl over to get to one.
