The Old Folks Home

My utility room with my washer, dish washer was donated to becoming the 'Puppy room' when we got the cattle dogs at 3 months of age. There were paw prints everywhere and as high as 7 feet on the walls. I'd scrubbed the walls down more times than I can count and since they just turned 4 and are barely starting to show some common sense I figured it was time to paint the walls.

I had also planned to get some utility room cupboards put up for storage so now's the chance to see about getting that done also.

Hopefully the two cattle dogs who still sleep there won't decide to either eat them or see if they can get foot prints on them also.

 FOUR! Wow, how time flies!
I know. Scary.

They are truly amazing animals. Diesel, Rocki and Ben will lie down on command and then sit back up when I tell the. Varn says....don't want to can't make me so there! But he does sit on command and if he sees me with a treat in hand he will run up to me and sit and wait patiently till he gets a treat. Them being treat motivated has really helped plus they are all four affectionate and love cuddles from mom and dad. Ben will flop over on his back and lay in the crook of your arm like a baby.

I still say that we didn't have intentions of rescuing 5 cattle dog pups but we are glad we did. These little souls deserved a chance to live and be loved. The past four years been harrowing, frustrating, aggravating, infuriating, heart breaking and at the same time rewarding and fun. Kinda like raising human children. :plbb

I'm going to have to get them all in a controlled 'sit' and take their picture tonight.

I once saw a quote about dogs that said:

"The troubled dog is the one YOU need the most."

Now I understand what that means.

I need to polyurethane wood work also but it will wait till summer when I can open windows and doors for ventilation.

Ashamed to admit that I still have a couple of rooms to finish up wood work. Decided that I would then polyurethane everything when I got them finished up.

Neighbor next door is milling oak boards. Need to hike over and see if he will cut a bunch of 1X3s for us. All of our wood work in the house came from white oak we harvested from a corral that was up when we bought the property.

Can you imagine....he used white oak for a corral!

Use what you have! At least it wasn't black walnut :D

Reading you 5 by 9 from the afterlife, Bruce. Ummmm hope it's not HOT where you are but the clouds are nice and fluffy.:lau
Definitely not hot. Hanging around freezing and expecting 5-6" of snow. I HATE "JUST BELOW FREEZING" SNOW!!! Will have to move it with the Mahindra, last time I tried with the blower on the garden tractor I might just as well have been trying to move quick set cement. Didn't get 10' out of the barn before it was locked up.
