The Old Folks Home

I woke up several hours ago this morning to about an inch of snow, our first. I made a path in the grass for the silkies to be able to come out a ways without stepping in it. Seven of them are old hats to this, and seven of them have no idea what that cold white stuff is, yet. The coop stays a toasty 40F, and whilst most came out to venture in the 25F temps and snow, they all chose to go back in after an hour.

This winter, you wait. After they've get used to this, I'll post a picture of 3' of snow with paths hubby makes and pieces of cardboard along the way to stand on, and they'll all be outside running around like it's spring. :D

Same here. Except mostly people don't know we're way out here at the end of a dirt road.
Ditto. Our road is 3 miles long with 6 farms and us on it. We wouldn't have brought our kids out here trick or treating either. Way too much driving to get to the next place.

In 29 years, we have had zero trick or treaters. Nary a one. Fine by me! ;)
We used to have a great time decorating for Halloween in FL. Lived a couple blocks from the Elementary school, and we used to have 200 to 300 kids come by! I would get dressed up and hand out treats outside. It was fun!

We’ve only had a couple kids in nearly 40 years we’ve lived here. One pair were brothers that were friends of our son and one little guy was my cousins son when he was 3. He’s now over 40 I believe.
I almost forgot… I bought a little bag of candy just in case but got peanut butter cups because I won’t eat those. :sick DH and the grandkids can deal with them!
