The Old Folks Home

When the power goes out here, the furnace doesn't run. Or the well pump. We have a generator, but don't run it constantly. So the woodstove keeps us warm. We would be lost without it.

I'm dreading the day we're too old to cut and split our own wood. Hopefully that is 15-20 years away. Or at least 10.
Hubby finally got a wood splitter. He is 67 years old.

This is something I should post in the "Things you wish you could say" thread. :lau
OMG, I don't even want to go there. I was on Facebook changing my "chicks for sale" posts and saw all the whiners and misguided people about why their chickens weren't laying. A couple are even back to "Are you feeding them TSC food?" I was laughing at some of those replies.

My Delaware pen has slacked way off but the RIR girls and their Daughter pullets are all laying well. Short days or not. Most other small lot breeds also have slacked way off. I'm skeptical of how the two Dark Cornish pullets hatch will turn out. My Bresse Girls rarely give me a single egg now.
