The Old Folks Home

Right now carbs are a problem. I've just got to get a low carb menu plan and stick with it.
This is a rough time of year to be resisting carbs, alas!

The whole keto/low carb thing is the only way DH and I have been able to lose significant weight (and feel well at the same time), and mostly belly fat (not losing muscle mass which I surely can't afford to do). Walking, gardening, plus some simple at-home strength training [which I need to be much more regular about. I spend waaay more time here on BYC instead!]

Still should drop another 20 lbs. but I haven't been at that "ideal" weight since before my first kid (now age 33). So far I'm blessed with healthy knees & hips but can't wear any of the rings I used to, arthritis swelling & stiffening most finger joints in the past year or so... (Wedding ring never comes off 🥰, so no problem there!)

After all the injections, lotions, potions, goos and salves, plus using the over-the-counter Naproxen and NSAIDs, I found that CBD gummies were the answer to my knee pain. Taken at night I get a good night's sleep, too. It took a bit (maybe a week) to really notice the effect of pain subsiding.
It won't fix your knees, but it makes getting around a lot easier.
Thanks! I should start using CBD. Does it seem to help with blood pressure?

Looks like this latest atmospheric river is really going to swamp you folks north of me! We're having a warm overcast but rainless day today before the next onslaught, so I'm headed outside for whatever garden work I can accomplish today; the chickens will enjoy the buckets of fresh weeds!

More heavy rain + small hail starts tomorrow through...maybe middle of next week? They're not saying. Expecting maybe another 3" but who knows?

Hmmm, as I type I'm seeing coastal fog drifting through the trees into the yard. Better climb into my overalls and get my fanny out there!
So far the big storms have been going North of Us. We are in the middle of the zone effected by El Nino.

I too hope they get you squared away pronto.
Thanks for all the well wishes, I saw the Cardiologist today. I was there for 2 hours! I am now scheduled for an echo, a stress test, and a mammogram ( not the Cardiologist's doing)
And he increased my BP meds to double what I was prescribed before.
I am checking hubby's BP machine against my BP cuff. Seems doctors never believe any BP machine that is not theirs. So far, the machines are very close . Highest reading so far is 249/128. Yikes!
