The Old Folks Home

Presents bought. Check.
Presents wrapped, nope. Don't know when we'll see the recipients, so when we have a get together planned, I'll wrap. None of the people has suggested a get together, so... 🤷‍♀️ We used to do a "Friendsgiving," but maybe not this year...?

Cookies... no. Maybe a dessert for Christmas Day, maybe not.

After I finished the frame to hang grow lights from I ordered two lights that will cover 9 10x20 seed starting trays. Now I have to remove the top part of the frame and install an 8' one. No big problem 4 screws to remove and put back in the new longer beam. I will use OSB on top of the 72" table to make it 96". That should start over 500 plants in the spring can be a place for herbs in the winter.

Yeah, Missouri winters are a kick aren't they, LOL.

And to think, we moved here for the milder winters! We came from western IL. Over 40 inches of snow per year along with ice and those delightful sub teen temps and sub 20 wind chills. Only 22 inches of snow here, yeah, ice and those delightful wind chills but that 22 inches of snow compared with over 40 does make a difference.

Howdy everyone! Hope y'all aren't running around like chickens with your heads cut off trying to get ready for Christmas.

I have all my shopping done, last gift arrived from Amazon yesterday. Baked my last batch of cookies this morning...now if I can keep our hands out of them till Tuesday....I'm ready to kick back, stare at the pretty lights and relax! Hope you are also.
MO winters were a lot colder than MI but the winter driving was not nearly as bad. We even went over to the big Thomas Hill Lake to fish in the winter in 10° weather. I was not a fan of the January thaws when trying to cut firewood for sale ahead of a land clearing project. I burried a 4x4 to the axle more than once. Driving empty on bottom land was easy until I filled the bed with green cut ash logs.

Cookie backing here tomorrow and Tuesday I hope. Ma made strawberry jam and baked two fruit cakes today. I smoke two turkey breasts tomorrow. One to go with the ham and one for a neighbor. The house will be loud with noise Wednesday with kids, grandkids, and great grandkids here at once. I want need ear plugs because without hearing aids I'm as deaf as a stump. :)

Two small turkey breasts are thawing and will be injected with some well seasoned buttered chicken broth and then put in a covered roaster. The large electric roaster is perfect for this job. I had thought about smoking them in the Weber but I two chilly out and I need to nap rather than tend a grill.
