DH went out last week to pick up an on line grocery order. He was about a quarter of a mile from home and radioed me to tell me he was stuck. Well, he wasn't stuck. He was brought to a standstill coming up a hill thanks to the ice skating rink that is our road. And he was raised in Wisconsin so he's no stranger to winter driving. Quite good at it in fact. They cleared the snow off of it but not much to be done about the ice except wait for it to thaw. Poor old van can usually take on the worst of weather but not this time. Two buckets of stove ash later, me sprinkling and him driving and we were able to get the van to the top of the hill and from there it is downhill to home. Needless to say, no more outings for awhile. This is more like January weather in December and it isn't even winter yet. That's what we had yesterday! Right now it's 20° which is balmy by comparison. I wish it would stay; tomorrow we could get the dreaded "wintry mix" precipitation. Hubby will be taking me to the chiropractor and the store in the Jeep tomorrow.
I feel your pain! Our weather here in N.E. Indiana has been more like January weather too! I`m afraid we are in for a long winter!DH went out last week to pick up an on line grocery order. We woke up this morning to dropping temps, high winds and LESS SNOW! Yay! Most of the snow is gone. Only left on north facing slopes but man oh man the wind is brutal right now. They predicted a cold wet winter for this part of the country and of course this would be the year that they are right...so far.I feel your pain! Our weather here in N.E. We had rain overnight. It warmed up so snow is slowly leaving! We have a lot of it! That wind and damp air cuts right to the bone!We woke up this morning to dropping temps, high winds and LESS SNOW! It'a good that the cataract surgery worked! I do not have them yet so cannot get the surgery.@CapricornFarm, the new house is beautiful and the kitchen amazingly roomy! Love all the cabinets. Our home back in IL was a ranch. Told DH recently that I wish we had the house here as it was much roomier. Big kitchen, walk in closets. Amish built homes do not have walk in closets....they barely have closets at all, lol. So far we've built two. Need more.
@pennyJo1960, congratulations on Snow's new pups. Take it mother and babies are doing fine.
The snow we had is melting. The road is still an ice skating rink so we are home till the spring thaw. Supposed to take Spot to the Vet on Friday for shots. May have to be delayed. Ahhhh winter in Missouri. Nothing like it.
As for cataract surgery. Every person I talked to in DH's practice went in apprehensive and afterwards told me they were sorry they put it off. It's amazing the progress in the state of the art.
