The Old Folks Home

That's what we had yesterday! Right now it's 20° which is balmy by comparison. I wish it would stay; tomorrow we could get the dreaded "wintry mix" precipitation. Hubby will be taking me to the chiropractor and the store in the Jeep tomorrow.
DH went out last week to pick up an on line grocery order. He was about a quarter of a mile from home and radioed me to tell me he was stuck. Well, he wasn't stuck. He was brought to a standstill coming up a hill thanks to the ice skating rink that is our road. And he was raised in Wisconsin so he's no stranger to winter driving. Quite good at it in fact. They cleared the snow off of it but not much to be done about the ice except wait for it to thaw. Poor old van can usually take on the worst of weather but not this time. Two buckets of stove ash later, me sprinkling and him driving and we were able to get the van to the top of the hill and from there it is downhill to home. Needless to say, no more outings for awhile. This is more like January weather in December and it isn't even winter yet.

I feel your pain! Our weather here in N.E. Indiana has been more like January weather too! I`m afraid we are in for a long winter! 🙁

Heel low:

Balmy -14C (7F) tonight...read the local rag and they showed some photos of the Parade of Lights, said it was 25 years old now.

Took me back down Memory Lane because twenty five years ago, my son, myself, Stoggar, Makins, and puppy HyBlade all were there leading the very 1st Western Canada Parade of Lights. There were over 70 floats and the doglettes and us got to lead. How kewl is that! :D

And by kewl I mean it was windy AND rather cold at -25C (-13F) that evening. :p

Won't quite get to -25C but Friday is forecast for -24C, so close enough.

Got the majority of the festive lights up; make sure to turn them on in the mornings too so the cruel bus kids get some holiday cheer.

Hung the heelers off the grader push blade...works good as a solid anchor.

This year is way easier than last...don't have to empty Santa crammed fulla pine cones one of the gone rouge squirrels packed it fulla. I mean, I could barely carry the dang thing...varmit! :old

Now just got to garland the tree and hang all the wooden ornaments we've been collecting for over the past 40 odd years or so.
