I get to work, so will have Boston Market with my work family. Probably turkey, mashed potatoes/gravy, stuffing, and maybe some sweet potatoes? And pie for dessert. Hopefully it won't be too horribly busy so we actually get to eat it.

Black-eyed peas with snaps and okra.......

Dang, I have to go back to the grocery store.

Okay. Maybe I can do a pot of baby limas, although I prefer blacked-eyed peas.

Happy Thanks Giving tomorrow!

I will be making a Fresh Black Berry Pie, Lemon Pie and Rolls tomorrow. The dinner will be at My Mom's house in the mountains. My Oldest Daughter will make Fresh Cranberries. Others will make Turkey, Stuffing, Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Yams and something we call yellow Jello.







You can use other flavors of jello but the lemon is the best.

I will also take the stuff to make espresso with Irish Cream.

on another note, I thought you all would be a great bunch to ask and get an intelligent answer . . . . .I am looking for an alternative treatment( prevention) for heart worm. I have tried to get injectable from the vet but I am steered away from it. I know a dog breeder that uses it. I can worm a HORSE for $3 with ivermectin paste--anyone use this or similar products on their dogs??

We took a chicken out of the freezer to maybe roast tomorrow if he's feeling like it after work. I bought a pumpkin pie from a coworker who does Lions Club fundraising, hopefully it's decent.

Arielle, a lot of people are using the injectible to save money. I was told by someone in rescue work that the dosage is one-tenth of one cc per 10 pounds of body weight, but check on that. She injects it into a piece of hotdog. I have seriously considered going that route because the pills have become so expensive.

I didn't think of using it as an oral; I think the breeder sued it as an injectable, but I may not be remembering correctly as it was about 14 years ago.

I will have to look up the cost of a bottle of injectable; hopefully, no script required.

I've been up and on my feet in the kitchen since 4:30 this morning. This is the first chance I've gotten to sit down and of course, I sat down at the computer and fired up BYC.

My parvo pup is (hopefully) finishing up her ordeal with .2cc daily Ivermectin by mouth for the demodectic mange that she developed while she was sick. Her monthly heart worm med came due right after starting her that and the vet said that she couldn't have the pill because she would OD and that I didn't have to worry about heart worms as long as she was taking the treatment for mange. I don't know what all that means and I don't know if it is only because she is getting it everyday, but it did cross my mind that it was cheaper.

I just want to remind everyone, including myself, what the holiday is about. I have so much to be thankful for, from family and friends, to fresh air and fresh eggs, from baby deer in my backyard to baby boys in my lap, from the will to make choices to the saving Grace of God. I could never name them all, nor could I ever express how blessed I am. I try to keep a thankful heart all year long, because I have learned that a thankful heart is a happy heart and I count that as one of the greatest feelings one can have.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends, I am thankful for you.
